A person has been taken ill on a train at London Road Brighton this evening, blocking the down line. The incident train (if that's the right term for it) has been at the station for over an hour, so either the casualty is very unwell or it is taking a long time for the ambulance to arrive...
Recently, I've noticed a few 377 anomalies. They are as followed:
- 377 472 or 474 - I can't remember which one - has it's front-end identifying number (not the official name for it, I'm sure!) covered with yellow paint on the driver's side. You can only see '377' and part of the '4'.
- Some...
There seems to be a major fault with the level crossing at Berwick this evening. Recently, I've heard a lot of people blame last year's East Sussex signalling upgrade for the numerous problems on the East Coastway route. What are peoples' opinions on this?
1F83 has just departing Berwick 69...
So, there has already been signalling problems (or, as I've been told, a track circuit failure) at Purley this morning, leading to many cancellations between Gatwick and Victoria. According to Southern, this is expected to continue until 16:00.
Not a very good start for the reopening of that...
1A14 came to a stand outside Haywards Heath about an hour ago, blocking one of the down lines through the station. The reason Southern gave for this was simply that the train was broken down. However, Realtime Trains states that the breakdown was due to a bird strike (with a 'V8' code). Firstly...
The overhauled timetable for Southern and Gatwick Express services, which will begin in mid-December, has been released on TRUST sources. Some services will see drastic changes, whereas, others will see more minor ones.
This timetable will see the withdrawal of the 442s from Southern...
As I was returning home this afternoon, I noticed that a train, which was departing from an adjacent platform, was showing its tail lights instead of its headlights.
Now, I'm not going to name the TOC or unit involved as I do not want to get anyone into trouble. I'd imagine that it was just...
Could someone tell me how many coaches can fit into each of the following Southern stations?:
Crawley;
Ifield;
Faygate;
Littlehaven;
Aldrington;
Portslade;
Fishersgate;
Southwick;
Lancing;
East Worthing;
West Worthing;
Durrington - on - Sea;
Goring - by - Sea;
Angmering;
London...
From what I've heard, a (literally) broken 455 is blocking two lines in the Battersea Park area and is causing quite a lot of disruption.
I've also heard that the cause behind the break down is that coaches 3 and 4 have managed to split apart. Could someone confirm this?
This morning, I caught 1F13 Hastings - Victoria. As it pulled into Hampden Park, I noticed that '3 CAR' was displayed on a white pad (for platform staff to see, I'd imagine).
This seems rather odd as the train was announced as being the usual 4 coaches, attaching to a further 4 coaches at...
I was at Eastbourne earlier this afternoon, on my way up to East Croydon.
There was an 8 car 377 sitting on the platform, awaiting to be attached to a 4 car 377 (from Ore). As there was a Rugby match at Falmer today, services on the East Coastway were lengthened.
Now, as the train from...
Hi,
I will be travelling up to London with a few mates on this, upcoming, Friday. As there are 5 of us going, we intend to get a Group Saver. However, I am a little hazy on the ins and outs of the rules and regulations associated with this type of ticket.
The journey is as follows:
We'll...
On my arrival at London Victoria, I heard the following announcement: "This is a staff announcement: could a British Transport Police officer please go to Platform 7. There is a code 1." This was then repeated (for emphasis I assume!)
I was wondering what code 1 actually means. It didn't...
Does anyone know what unit is operating the 10:10 5Z37 Horsham - Littlehampton Shed on Monday?
The return journey is the 13:58 5Z38 Littlehampton Shed - Horsham Up Sidings South.
Both services show as operating under Southern.
Thanks
For anyone that is familiar with me, you will know that I am rather fond of the Class 442. I was wondering if anyone knew the typical announcement routine on the Gatwick Express when travelling between London Victoria and Gatwick/Brighton (and vice versa). I only seem to come across the units...
It looks like 377 411 had a run-in with a tree this morning at Lingfield. Looking at the pictures, the area around the coupler on one of the DMOC coaches has been damaged. I'd imagine this unit is now at Selhurst Depot!
The following Eastbourne-based services are operated by 442 units:
Monday - Friday:
5F82 - Eastbourne Sidings to Eastbourne (unknown timings);
1F82 - Eastbourne (07:12) to London Bridge (08:50);
1F83 - London Bridge (18:23) to Eastbourne (19:55);
5F83 - Eastbourne to Eastbourne Sidings...
