Southern timetable changes consultation Coastway West

Apologies if there is already a thread on this but I couldn’t see one and the proposed changes are creating quite a bit of media interest. https://www.southernrailway.com/-/media/goahead/gtr-all-shared-pdfs-and-documents/timetable-consultation-2023/west-coastway-timetables-changes-engagement.pdf

Class 465/466 return to the Victoria - Ashford services

Is 6 coaches enough at peak times on this line?

    Southeastern - Timetable change

I suppose it’s a start, better than nothing. The two off-peak Cannon Street services per hour will probably get withdrawn at some point in the future and the hourly off-peak Charing Cross service upgraded to half hourly and just accept the risk to performance as being necessary to ensure...

    Southeastern - Timetable change

I wondered about the logic of an hourly service too, but maybe the best that can be achieved at present.

    Southeastern - Timetable change

That’s good, glad to hear that they are a success.

    Southeastern - Timetable change

So how is it working? Are the Beckenham Junction to Blackfriars trains well used? How about the Maidstone to Charing Cross service?

    C2C via Basildon frequency

With that peak frequency they must be saving a fortune by employing fewer drivers.

    Southeastern - Timetable change

At which location(s) does it reach capacity?

    Southeastern - Timetable change

Will be interesting to see if any of the changes result in a return to peak hour overcrowding.

    Southern Timetable Change September 2022

12 coaches on summer Saturdays on the busiest VIC-EBN services for day trippers to the coast would be very welcome, plenty of people stand on the return journey in the evening.

    December 2022 Timetable Changes

I think it’s worth trialling Charing Cross via London Bridge from the Maidstone line off-peak. It gives access to a wider range of entertainment and tourist attractions and tube connections, particularly into the Jubilee line than are available at Victoria. The focus of activity in London at...

    December 2022 Timetable Changes

That’s terrible. What happened to the Ramsgate services? 1664433894 I can’t imagine there was much demand for Maidstone East services to Blackfriars off-peak, but Charing Cross will be very attractive for the West End as well as maintaining services to the South Bank. Opens up new travel...

Monkerton / Hill Barton station not a Devon CC priority

Apparently not possible without a passing loop but good to see that locals want a train service. https://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/hopes-dashed-new-exeter-train-7095835

GWR Brighton services axed from May timetable change

Only ever saw it once at Chichester heading towards Brighton on a school day late afternoon. Carried a big load of students but the narrow doors on the 158 made for slow boarding.

    Southern Class 455 Withdrawal

What do current passenger levels through North Dulwich generally justify?

Greater Anglia makes further changes to its weekday timetable (from 10th January 2022)

The restoration of the Colchester-Walton on the Naze service appears to recognise the need for Monday to Friday services into the centre of Colchester for those workers, students and shoppers from the Essex coast. It seemed ridiculous to cut it in the first place.

Rail Minister: Chris Heaton-Harris replaced by Wendy Morton

Reopening to Aldridge on the cards!

    December 2021 Timetable change

Really hammers Clacton and Walton on Naze.

    Godalming station dispersal order?

I have found that the potential for mindless thuggery and ASB in commuter belt towns in the south east is often greater than in London.
