The driver’s position in the 717s is on the left, as the emergency exit step unit occupies the centre.
The current preview services are stopping at Highbury and Islington, where the northbound platform is on the left but not at Essex Road (for example), where it’s on the right.

Some GN/TL single and return tickets are now available for the Key from certain stations - anytime and off-peak (but not super off-peak), allowing railcard discounts. However these can only be purchased on ticket machines but can be used straightaway.
The situation does seem quite fluid and...
They've been adding quite a lot of pictures of the work to the Brighton Mainline Improvement Project Twitter feed https://twitter.com/brighton_line
There's mention of having 27 separate work sites.

I’d already spotted it and have checked the position at Hatfield- all 3 are available. I’m hoping to get to the Meet the Manager at Kings Cross tomorrow and am planning to query the formatting of the table. Will report back tomorrow evening!

This looks to be a possible alternative purchase route - you can order and get them sent to you in advance: https://www.visitbritainshop.com/world/london-travelcard/
All GN/TL services go to Kings Cross (rather than St Pancras) in the current timetable on Saturdays. On a normal Sat the 16:54 would go to Kings Cross - with no need to change at Finsbury Park.
Neither GN nor TL sell tickets for specific trains - believe times are just used to assess whether...
