    National Express Coaches Discussion

Yes indeed, that is the trade off. In my limited experience more people seem to avoid the risk of having to do the ‘backtrack’ out of fear that the people boarding behind them will have taken the seats they walked past to get to the back initially. I’ve never done a proper long distance...

    National Express Coaches Discussion

Personally on coaches I tend to go towards the back because I find once the coach starts to reach the point where there’s no more empty two seaters, people tend to just sit next to someone near the front, even when sometimes there are empty two seaters in the last couple of rows that they simply...

Transport for Wales Class 231 / 756 Stadler FLIRTs

Who says that’s not effectively what they’re doing? As I understand it a wheel lathe is quite a complex piece of equipment so it probably isn’t quite as simple as unplugging the old one as soon as Amazon drop off the new one

Late night TFW not stopping at Warrington Bank Quay

So I agree with you in the sense that it isn’t necessarily a good look for the railway from the passengers perspective, but what you describe as “crazy” actually makes logical sense even if you don’t want it to. If there is never staff at Runcorn East in the daytime, why would they be required...

Is the "slipping belts" what causes the high pitched squeal on them or is that something else?

    Nottingham City Transport

Did NCT lose a Lilac biogas DD after hitting something on Carlton Hill or did that get repaired? There was also the Solo SR that ended up in Argos(?)

    NET (Nottingham) Tram Discussion

And to be fair, it probably would affect their usual operations unless it is out of term time. Several NCT routes are/were missing buses this afternoon/this evening - something they’re always very upfront about too to their credit. Couldn’t have said it any better myself for the second...

East Midlands Railway Dec 2025 recast

I have to give credit to EMR they really do seem to run Liverpool - Norwich really well. Sets swaps at Nottingham seem to be well managed on the occasions they are needed with a 4 car set waiting in platform and the ex-Norwich 2 car (of the opposite stock) coming in behind or on an adjacent...

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

Stood at Derby waiting for the 1026 to Nottingham which is meant to be an 810. Seems EMR have forgotten about the service as we’ve not even had a delay announcement. I’m gonna guess it’ll eventually be cancelled due to a fault with the train. 1768128426 Never mind, we got underway eventually 17...

Why are some numbers on the 710s skipped/missing?

In the cases of the 378s and 710s separately yes, but doesn’t this fall apart since there is both a 378 257 and 710 257

London Underground and TfL Fast Trains

I assume you’re referring to Crossrail, which wasn’t a brand new route built from scratch. It was the linking of two previously existing suburban lines out of London with the construction of a new core section (as well as a new third shorter branch). So you could’ve built the new sections four...

    Southern Boxing Day service

According to RTT it was a 12 coach train, with an extended 5 minute dwell at both Gatwick and East Croydon https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:X11058/2025-12-26#allox_id=0

How often are Voyagers used on the Nottingham to Cardiff route?

As other posters say, generally in 2025 it is extremely uncommon. But there was a period of time (a few months I think) a few years ago where for some reason or another there was a weekday diagram that more often than not had a 220 or even a 221 on it. I want to say one of the journeys was...

    Avanti Pendolino Calling Pattern Announcements

If you hadn’t attached videos there is no way I’d have believed you that there was automated announcements on the 222s.

Brent Cross West - a missed opportunity for Park & Ride?

I used to get the coach into London in the mornings and we always got stuck in traffic at Brent Cross

Brent Cross West - a missed opportunity for Park & Ride?

Depends on how you look at it I suppose. I’d have thought declaring an area to be part of an ULEZ only for emissions potentially to end up increasing (or not decreasing) due to a publically funded incentive for people to drive further into London previously to be a bit daft personally.

Train joining portions at two different stations (timetable data geekery)

I think I recall an occasion where they both ran to Aberdeen and the Inverness portion carried on from there via Elgin

Brent Cross West - a missed opportunity for Park & Ride?

A park & ride site so close to London that it is in the ULEZ and that you’d have to fight through London traffic to get to?

N Not that you’re bitter or anything.. At least on the face of it, an ex hotel manager would seem quite a good fit for a role titled “Customer Experience manager”
