Probably for the same reason you said they didnt make 201 and 202 spares - it wouldn’t really make any sense to. I don’t think NCT care about having buses of different ages in common pools - look at the lilac/lime/orange biogas fleets for example. And why should they - there’s barely any...

Near miss with an access ramp at Norwood Junction station (RAIB)

Is part of the issue with different ramps on 377s and 378s due to the different styles of doors? Do 377 ramps stop interlock being gained with the plug doors and 378 ramps with their sliding doors?

    Air conditioning on London Buses

That must be down to operators choice though as NCTs have four - two on each side

    Change here for London?

I’m struggling to get my head round the paragraph I’ve highlighted in bold - reconfigure stations to facilitate more/easier interchange but then stopping less services there than present? I’d be all for reducing the number of 5 car trains on the southern ECML for example, but that can only...

One broke down on me at Morrisons about a month ago. Driver said it wouldn’t start

I’d say the lilac line has had a lack of branded buses since before the Ultroliners were even on the scene. In fact I’d probably say NCT had expected (hoped) 675 and 676 would free up the spares normally used on lilac line to help see off the omnidekkas more quickly

Audio/visual "next stop" announcements on buses

Not totally retired, still in use on pathfinder 90! Still with the same (first picture) init screens, also fitted to the majority of the double deck fleet apart from the new Ultroliners. I think NCT started using those displays around 2010

Major Disruption through Purley 14/06/2026. Structural problem with rail bridge

Personally I wouldn’t buy a ticket and would stand my ground if challenged by on train staff. Although as someone else said, customer services should in theory refund you. I think my hesitation is due to my past experiences of challenging customer services/delay repay after the fact, when they...

Are there any changes in double deck route PVRs that could result in repaints? Will the 79 increase be covered by the cuts to the 78? I was thinking the 24 being cut might mean a lilac biogas could be repainted given the 25/27 can in theory use 675 and 676 (assuming the Ultroliners are playing...

First Rail Stirling (Lumo) Rolling Stock

They are and they don’t have the cell repeater/boosters that Virgin fitted to the 221s and 390s. Not sure if it has been upgraded but the EMT(R) wifi was always pretty unreliable at best

Moving Britain, by Design - GBR visual identity proposal.

I saw your tweet on Twitter yesterday and personally I’m a big fan of the proposal. It looks really well considered and thought through. Glad to see you post it on here where I’m sure you’ll get different kinds of feedback

Transport for Wales Class 231 / 756 Stadler FLIRTs

(My bold) Have you seen this stated or confirmed anywhere as a fact? Or is it just what you think/believe will happen? I have no inside knowledge either way, I’m just surprised at how certain you seem. Personally, I can’t foresee a situation where TfW literally have to (as in they no choice at...

Proposal: Mildmay eastward extension from Stratford to Barking Riverside (and beyond?)

I imagine capacity will be the main issue - I don’t think you can compare the GEML with the East London Line when it comes to the ability to just add more services on top of existing ones. Even with your new platforms and flyover at Stratford, trains heading towards Barking are still shown as...

Do TOCs receive compensation for tree swipes?

But you still need to monitor the costs, frequency etc. otherwise you end up with a TOC spending way more on fixing damage than it’d cost for NR to cut the trees just because no one realised.

LNER Azuma Trials on the MML

Hull Trains 802s already run to St Pancras sometimes during engineering works so I’m surprised any extra checks are needed

Extremely loud train noise at St Pancras Thameslink

The 319s were just as bad from my memory at St Pancras, as were the 377s. I don’t think it’s the trains, it’s the sharper curves. But I do agree, it is something that they should try and mitigate at least

Whoever runs social media for them doesn't mince their words  One facebook comment reads "So were's [sp] the next new double decks coming from to replace the omnidekkas...China , Arthur Danson and David Cherry must be turning in thier graves" to which NCT replied "They started coming...
