The sliding step also hinges down slightly when stepped on. This brings the edge down to platform level.

Taken from the North side of a train heading towards Kirkby, the first two photos are looking west, the second two east (ie looking back from my train). Hope that makes sense, the site is much larger and more complex than I expected.

A good idea in my opinion, maybe with Great British Railways (GBR) we will have a national standard for platform zoning. Rather than each operator doing their own thing.
