    Merseyrail Class 777 introduction updates

A crude measurement on Google maps suggests the distance in between the bridges is 75m. A class 777 is 65m long, I would guess that means the front door of the second set could open, so front 5 cars only. I could be wrong just guessing.

    New Station calendar

A possible new station at Cheadle in south Manchester. It looks like Cheadle has won about £14m from the government and are looking to use £9m to build a station on the Chester-Manchester line, where this line crosses the B5095 near the Alexandra Hospital. Located on the site of the old LNWR...

    LED signals, black blanking plates

I noticed something about the LED signals around Wolverhampton. A lot have these black plates affixed to the side of the signal head. Does anyone know what the purpose is? To block light from distracting from the signal aspect I guess?

    Merseyrail Class 777 introduction updates

Wikipedia states that 53 class 777s will replace 57 507/508s currently working. With better utilisation I don't think any shortened services would be expected. I'm sure someone knows how many units are needed for the service, it's probably been discussed in this thread before!

Porterbrook Cl.769 'Flex' trains from 319s, initially for Northern

Recent train times allows you to see the performance of services over a long period. I've attached a screenshot of Southport to Alderley Edge services. Statistics are for the last 4 weeks and over a week of services are displayed. Of course it could always be better but the trains do seem to...
