A crude measurement on Google maps suggests the distance in between the bridges is 75m. A class 777 is 65m long, I would guess that means the front door of the second set could open, so front 5 cars only. I could be wrong just guessing.

I noticed something about the LED signals around Wolverhampton. A lot have these black plates affixed to the side of the signal head.
Does anyone know what the purpose is? To block light from distracting from the signal aspect I guess?
Wikipedia states that 53 class 777s will replace 57 507/508s currently working. With better utilisation I don't think any shortened services would be expected.
I'm sure someone knows how many units are needed for the service, it's probably been discussed in this thread before!

You need to register (for free) to access this. But the TLDR is that only powered bogies of diesel units were affected, all but two are back in service now, the modification is being rolled out.
