Are Talent Pools worth the paper they're written on?

I was in a talent pool for all of 2 hours before being offered medical dates. You don't go forward for a medical unless there is a start date in mind for you.

Only company branded ones that can be flogged on e-Bay will suffice!

    Women freight drivers

From what I understand, they had booked themself on as fit for duty, and about half way through, they had an urgent need, so to speak. There was uproar in my depot, at the time. It was successfully appealed.

Toilets on trains? Luxury! The closest we have to toilets is a Costa coffee cup, and good aim, and air conditioning is when the hopper window refuses to close, and we were grateful for that :E

I have never been in a signal box with only one signaller in it, but maybe that's just my Network.

Isn't that basically the inside of nappies?

They operate within the M25 and below. North of the M25, I believe, you'd be pretty safe in that front.

    Women freight drivers

Not on my network, we don't. Given how often we are stranded on units with no facilities, or at unstaffed stations with... No facilities. We have also had guards Clause 9'd over an emergency PNB to use the toilet. Trust me when I say that a Costa coffee cup and a Shewee has been my best...

That's the same issue for guards, especially on units with no toilets on board. Get a Shewee, plan your breaks, know your environment, and for the love of all things sacred, don't drink as much coffee as I do!

Around 90 Guards/Commercial Guards needed at SWR before December 2022

Not for a guard on SWR, until very recently, from what I gather. Less money, more intense work and the Brucie Bonus of more restrictions? I don't blame the talent pool jumping ship, so to speak. The idea is to elevate working conditions for all railway workers, to match the best, not degrade...

Around 90 Guards/Commercial Guards needed at SWR before December 2022

From what I understand, people who had applied, but had everything on hold due to COVID, before the new T&C's were agreed, once they were advised on the new pay scales, they went "Bye Felicia!". But to a seasoned recruiter, nothing screams "we are struggling to retain staff" more than a 3 month...

Around 90 Guards/Commercial Guards needed at SWR before December 2022

I have heard that there was a huge drop out rate from the pool since the new guard T&C's kicked in.

Surely someone at work (assuming you work for GWR) would be able to advise you of this?

How frequent are drug + alcohol tests for drivers?

Where I work, in the last 6 years there have been 4 people who lost their jobs after they were selected for random D&A testing. At least 4 lost their jobs after a post incident testing. At least 2, that I know of, were arrested for being under the influence of D/A on the job.

LNER - Apprentice Driver - Kings Cross & Leeds (06/01/22)

I know we are in an age where we are used to instant gratification, acknowledgements, responses, processes and outcomes arrive in a blink. Folks forget the human element in all of this, and that takes time. I guess we would get a far quicker response if the video interviews didn't happen.

LNER - Apprentice Driver - Kings Cross & Leeds (06/01/22)

The folks in HR tend to work office hours, and with COVID and some folks still working from home, it is going to take time to manually review the video interviews. Besides, the railway is littered with inefficiencies, but there's often a reason why they done in that way - start getting used to...

Greater Anglia - Trainee Drivers - Multiple Locations (14/01/22)

I scored 12 on 1, 11 on the other, the only difference was the depot I applied for.
