Agreed. I’ve never heard of the concept of penalty fares under Oyster since it’s self correcting in as far as you won’t get another journey out of a card without topping up to pay off the negative balance.
It’s also part of the reason why there’s a deposit on the cards. It reduces the...
Now that will be useful, particularly for my eldest who uses bus more than train at the moment. Fortunately the station isn’t too far from the bus stop for topping up purposes.
Edit: interesting. There’s nothing showing on the TfL website about this so if it’s been introduced then it hasn’t...
No problems with one of my occasional work trips down to Hook today except for the usual odd timings from Clapham (not really a problem, just an inconvenience).
The only oddity was that we ran through Woking on the up slow on the way back while the fast platform was empty. We were straight back...
How on earth do you know what sort of fuss SWR is or isn't kicking up? It's hardly likely to be expressed as a twitter slap down between the two organisational!
I don't believe that's always been true. I think that tickets once worked that way (with a time limit) but Oyster was a touch required each time you changed trams.
Proving that now may be next to impossible of course.
Edit: Page 10 of this document covers it...
I was about to say that we do for trams...but apparently the hopper fare applies to them too. I didn't know that.
Do you have to touch in before boarding the second tram I wonder?
That's what I understood from this thread all along.
Drop the road, drop the rails, drop the overhead (maintaining all of the appropriate clearences), reduce the gradient from low point under bridge to high point over road, reduce whatever the impact of a steep gradient is.
It seems to have...
The key thing to remember is that your travelcard needs to be valid for the zones of all the stations you pass through in your journey if you want it to cover the journey. (The exception is for those stations that are in 2 zones for which you only need coverage of one of them to be valid)
This is going to sound silly but the only implication of this that I can think of is that you're using the wrong card i.e. the money is in the system waiting but the system doesn't see the card that it's looking for to put the money on.
I assume that your journeys show on your online history...
That's a bit improbable isn't it? The more likely reason for asking such a question is to explore whether the service of the new units is dependent on a limited pool of trained staff.
Or, https://www.londonreconnections.com/2014/study-sussex-part-7-east-croydon/, for the London Reconnections take on things for the future with a rather useful Diagram of how things were in the past.
Before the junction was remodelled there were lines that went around the outside of the depot from one side to the other so the circular services wouldn't have needed to pass through it. Google world will give you a good view of the old bridges where the west Croydon lines to Norwood Jnct used...
Sirius Cybernetics Corporation 'Happy Vertical People Transporters' anyone?
(They experimented with going sideways before sulking in basements I believe - with thanks to Douglas Adams)
