    Class 458/5

Well I managed to see 6 of the things in the space of 5 minutes at Twickenham this morning, which was a bit of a surprise! 458502 (2R19) 458531+458533 (2S24 diverted Weybridge to London service) 458535+458534 (2U24) 458532 (2S23 diverted London to Weybridge service) The Weybridge...

    Class 458/5

I caught a glimpse of this as it stopped at Hampton, was most surprised when it was a pair of them. Does anyone know what happened at Strawberry Hill, particularly London bound, as the platform extensions aren't complete there yet, presumably SDO was in operation, but did it stop beyond the...

    Class 456's on the move?

Any ideas when the refurbished example will be going into traffic?

    Validity and expiry

Thanks. Just out of interest, how long did the error exist for?

    Validity and expiry

If you don't mind me asking, why are those tickets so cheap? (And how can I get some, I need to go to Sheffield at the end of June.)

Will the class 68 loco oprerate on the GOBLIN line

It's an intermodal train that conveys a large amount of 20ft tank containers of presumably sugar. Think they must be quite heavy as there's usually one container per wagon. Not sure of it runs from Tilbury or Purfleet, possibly it can run from either? --- old post above --- --- new post below...

    Class 458/5

The constant rolling improvement of accessibility, crash-worthiness and emissions requirements must be adding an enormous amount of costs to nearly every element of operating the railway network in this country.

Will the class 68 loco oprerate on the GOBLIN line

I would have thought there was a good chance of the 68s turning up on occasion on the Sugarliner and Tesco trains between Daventry and Tilbury, some of which I believe run via the GOBLIN.

10 car Windsor line SWT diagrams

The above diagram seems to be running today, at least 2v25 is 2 x 458/5

South West Trains May timetable; train lengthening and stabling

I could have sworn I saw 2 x 455 on a Reading service today (22nd May) (2C55 1750 London Waterloo to Reading). Is that a regular diagram for 455s now, or just a one off to cover for a 450 or 458?

Slow Train Wandsworth Road to Clapham Junction

Isn't the bridge over Latchmere road in a pretty delicate state as well.

Five attempts to buy a ticket?

Why do some stations have restrictions on when advance purchases with reservations can be made? Looking at schedule 17 it seems that there are none at my small local station where the booking office is only open from 0630-1300, but at Manchester Piccadilly, a major station, they can't be...

Colas Class 70s - deliveries now underway

Many thanks Mark, shame I missed that, it's getting a bit dull with the limited number of Colas 66s on that working.

Which train service has the slowest approach to a train station?

Kingston loop services going into Twickenham over the bridge and down the bank into platform 3. It's very slow, and then you can see the Reading train arrive on time to platform 4 just early enough so you can't catch it, and so one minute gets dragged out to a whole 15 minutes if you're heading...

Lowestoft - Great Yarmouth. NREQ Error?

Another thread on here prompted me to look up fares for Yarmouth to Lowestoft. Now easement number 1 in the routeing guide states that; Journeys from stations on the Great Yarmouth-Norwich line via Acle to stations on the Norwich-Lowestoft line may go via Norwich. This easement applies...

Colas Class 70s - deliveries now underway

Does anyone know if the Class 70s have worked any of the services between Eastleigh and Hoo? I've not heard any reports of them working through Hounslow or Richmond?

Freightliner trainee driver positions ('Graduate scheme')

Have to say it's a bit odd for them to use the phrase 'graduate scheme'. It has a pretty well known meaning in the jobs market, that's fairly clearly defined.

Study could look into reopening Bourne End to Wycombe train line

A cursory look at a satellite view suggests that it's not simply gardens, but a couple of residential streets and a small retail/industrial estate that have been built on the formation. Given the topography a new formation could well be cheaper once you'd paid all the lawyers, compulsory...
