The height restriction on Stoneclough Road, Kearsley, adjacent to Kearsley railway station, is not caused by the bridge itself but by the strengthening beams immediately to the north-east thereof. Prior to July 2023 these were marked at 15'9" but are now not marked at all, implying that the...
So are you saying that, because Queens Road buses have only been involved in two Barton Lane bridge strikes in five years, there isn't really a problem? And that, had the 52 and 100 been run on separate rotas the recent accident would still have occurred? I don't reckon it would have done.
What...
It's an unfortunate aspect of the way of the world that, if something serious happens, the next thing that needs to take place is, someone has to be blamed.
The likelihood of a service 100 bus striking the bridge on Barton Lane could have been dramatically reduced simply by covering the 52 and...
I have started a new thread specifically concerned with the deroofing of Stagecoach bus 11512.

Does anyone know what has subsequently happened to the driver involved? Is anyone other than myself supportive of him?
I have been a bus driver (amongst other things), but am now retired.

What I am suggesting as an extraneous circumstance, all the ingredients were there for an accident to happen. It didn't need much of a lapse on the part of the driver for it to end in disaster.
People seem to be viewing the driver's mistake as not much short of a capital offence.
For most of the day, only one 100 bus per hour goes through to Warrington, another one per hour terminates at Hollins Green, and two per hour terminate at the Trafford Centre - which is the same number as...
Would you not agree that, were the 52 and 100 services to be worked by separate pools of drivers, the likelihood of an incident occurring would be only a fraction of what it actually is?
Is 11266 also on loan to Middleton (ex Queens Road)? I saw it on a 112 yesterday (27/7/25). 11928 was on a 119 about the same time.

What's utter nonsense?
You're judging the driver, not by the seriousness of his actions, but by the seriousness of the consequences, no matter to what...
(Quote) The driver of the Bee Network bus which collided with a aqueduct bridge on Barton Lane in Eccles, Salford, has since been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.
So no doubt the driver will get the blame for something which was inevitably going to happen...
