Lisbons funicular suffers catastrophic runaway (03/09)

Exactly. A rack railway is a rack railway, a funicular a funicular. But yes, you could probably have a compromise between the two.

Lisbons funicular suffers catastrophic runaway (03/09)

That's on a par with saying that a helicopter is poorly designed if it doesn't have a backup rotor to use if the primary one falls off. 1757217618 Portuguese officials investigating Wednesday's deadly funicular crash in Lisbon say a cable along the railway's route snapped Wasn't it implied...

Do the two Fiats 'officially' fit under the bridge? Was 21242 VOR yesterday? What is the height of the Merc? A vehicle parc of two would strike me as totally inappropriate for a PVR of two anyway, I would see four as an absolute minimum. (That wouldn't equate to 100% spare cover, since any...

It's been reported elsewhere that the change date was today, Monday 1 September, but it actually took place as scheduled, yesterday, Sunday 31 August. Buses have been taking up to six minutes to travel from Adelaide Street (on Trafford Road) to Barton Bridge (scheduled time, 1 minute). Yesterday...

Did you actually see it doing the diversion route? According to bustimes, 2107, 2118, and 4039 have all worked Vantage journeys today, but for the most part they are shown as tracking on other routes at the same time.

It's tempting to say that the planned change will only bring the same safety benefit that putting the 52 and 100 on to different rotas would have done, but I don't want to cast aspersions, it's definitely a step in the right direction. I estimate that the diversion via Patricroft Bridge will add...

3116/8 were last used by Wigan depot 26/27 Aug and started on 163s at Heywood w.e.f. 28 Aug AM, joining 3117. 3108-10/2-4 were still in use at Wigan 28/8, 3111/5 seem to be still v.o.r., 3107 hasn't been used since Tuesday, reason not known. B9 3287 did two one-way V1s yesterday 28/8 and...

Deroofing of Bee Network bus on Barton Lane, Eccles, Monday 21 July 2025

That's a notion which has been introduced on this thread. The Queensgate depot of Burnley & Pendle was, and remains, half the size of Queens Road, yet it didn't stop us having, at one point, four rotas - main, tendered service, minibus, and Routemaster.
