Trivia: Railway line with the greatest difference in service between peak and off peak frequencies

Warrington Bank Quay has an hourly service to/from Liverpool Lime Street Monday to Saturday daytime - except Monday to Friday AM/PM peak, when holes appear.

    Northern Class 195: Initial Diagrams

A very close run thing today. At 2140 and three-quarters 195122 passed 195120 (which was standing on the adjacent track, but against a red signal). At 2142 and a half 195120's signal cleared, and away it went.

    Northern Class 195: Initial Diagrams

Two 156s on Barrow and/or Windermere today, 156427 on Diagram 3 and 156482 on Diagram 4. 195s I haven't seen have been 195001/7 and 195114/8/9/21/5. One 195/1 is likely to have been on Diagram 1, which I didn't see, since the Diagram missed Preston-Airport-Preston from 1509. The double 195/0...

    Northern Class 195: Construction/Introduction Updates

I've been on one within the last week or so where the doors have started closing, can't remember when, sorry. The problem of the doors is very much reduced, compared to how it was, but it hasn't been eliminated. As to the one which gave trouble this afternoon, the relevant unit (195122) did...

    Northern Class 195: Initial Diagrams

A third 156 on Barrow/Windermere today has been 156426 on Diagram 3. 156475 was in due course replaced by 195119, I can only suppose at Preston on the 1605 ex-Windermere, but there are no shunt moves showing on RTT. The other two 156s, as far as I am aware, completed their respective diagrams...

    Northern Class 195: Initial Diagrams

Assuming that 195102 did start on the 2x195/0 circuit (and RTT as good as confirms that it did), it only managed two and a half round trips on that diagram (much of which was run significantly late) before being transferred to Diagram 7 (the latter as designated by mikemcniven in post #1 of this...

Southport to Manchester Piccadilly services to be reinstated

The direct tram service between Victoria and Piccadilly is every twelve minutes, and has been since Metrolink started running to Piccadilly, I believe. An additional option is to take a tram from Victoria to the Market Street stop, walk across to the Piccadilly Gardens stop, and catch another...

    Northern Class 195: Initial Diagrams

Diagram 8 (see post #304), which is a Blackpool start, is today being covered by 156488. Diagram 10, which is Newton Heath, is 156475. Does anyone know what is operating Diagrams 11 & 12? They're the ones which should be the 195/0s.

TRTS - does it really mean 'Train Ready to Start'?

I don't think it can be assumed that 2T23 would have been given the off at 1624, just because its TRTS button might have been pressed, and that for 1P79 hadn't. 1P79 was a late-running Class 1 train, 2T23 was an on-time Class 2. I'm sure that 1P79 would have been given some degree of priority...

    Northern Class 195: Initial Diagrams

Correction, the 2249 Airport - Liverpool semi-fast is routed CLC, it is only diverted via Chat Moss if there are late-night engineering works going on. That is quite often, though.

    Northern Class 195: Initial Diagrams

Yes, it was bad. The following list of cancellations I believe to be complete, but I'll stand corrected, of course. One cancellation not mentioned is of a return trip Barrow - Lancaster, as it isn't on a 195 diagram. Diagram 1 (see post #116 of this thread) 0947 Barrow - Manchester Airport...

    Northern Class 195: Initial Diagrams

The 2119 Liverpool - Airport was 156421+156440. By the time I caught the set at Picc at 2216, it was the only Liverpool - Airport diagram still operating, the other two were grounded! Are you sure about 2x195/0s being booked for the third Sunday duty? There are only the two 195/0s available at...

    Northern Class 195: Initial Diagrams

The 1351 Airport - Liverpool did indeed operate, apparently using the stock off the 0821 Liverpool - Airport. This latter journey doesn't appear to have a return, so I can only suppose it is diagrammed for a 156 and couples up to the one working the 0916 ex-Liverpool, to form the 1050...

    Northern Class 195: Initial Diagrams

Cancellations on Airport - Barrow/Windermere appear to be greater today than the average of recent Sundays, and on a par with Saturday 17/8/19. In particular, only one journey Oxenholme - Windermere - Oxenholme looks to have operated, up to now.

    Northern Class 195: Initial Diagrams

The following journeys are coming up on 'Journey Check' today (Sun)as being formed of three coaches - 1116, 1716, and 2016 Liverpool - Airport and their relevant returns. These are from the diagram which last Sunday, turned out to be 195-operated - but most of the diagrammed journeys were...

    Northern Class 195: Initial Diagrams

The list of 195 cancellations yesterday (Sat) seems very modest indeed compared to last Saturday. This list is complete, to the best of my knowledge. 1146 Barrow - Manchester Airport cancelled 1429 Manchester Airport - Windermere cancelled to Preston 1530 Manchester Airport - Barrow cancelled...

    Northern Class 195: Initial Diagrams

195124 is visible in the yard at Allerton. In view of where it and 195102 expired on Wednesday I would have thought that 195102 would be there as well, but you never know, it might be one of those visible, but unidentifiable, at Newton Heath. Apart from 195102 and 195124, the only 195/1 not...

    Northern Class 195: Initial Diagrams

To have two 195s travelling side by side you would need to have them pass Deansgate more or less simultaneously, with one unit passing through each platform. That would never happen - I believe the signalling permits an up movement through the down platform, but I'm sure it would only be allowed...
