Exactly. True of all busses, especially small busses. If you sit at the back on single decker's, (higher up and closer to the windows that do not deflect the draught from the open window) then it is very uncomfortable if you are sat further back from an open window.

If you fancy something slightly different. Train to Gourock, ferry to Kilcreggan and bus to Helensburgh. I did it in the last year or so. It is all valid on the Strathclyde day bus/train/ferry ticket.

Ask the guard when they are checking your ticket. I have done that in the past on Virgin Trains.
