Kilmarnock to Manchester rtn

I have found a fare of £55 with SRN railcard. Off-Peak Rtn.

My understanding is it is only valid via Dumfires.

Outward journey is Monday 2 July, needs to arrive Manchester early afternoon.
Too late to return home on Monday evening, but could a break of journey be OK at a stop along the route Manchester to Preston, then continue on Tuesday?

Route via Glasgow would be £61.30 with SNR railcard

Are there any time restrictions with either fare?

Am I correct with the above?

Any other useful thoughts?

Yes. The £55.00 Senior Railcard Off-Peak Return Kilmarnock - Manchester Stations via Dumfires does not have any restrictions on break of journey.

Correct. The £61.30 ticket is oddly routed via Carlisle but is intended for use via Glasgow.

Nominal restrictions only. Both tickets have Restriction 2T, which states "Mondays-Fridays
OUTWARD TRAVEL Not valid on trains scheduled to depart before 04:15.
RETURN TRAVEL Not valid on trains scheduled to depart before 04:15."

Any other useful thoughts?

trainsplit.com indicates that there is a small saving available by buying 2 separate Off-Peak Returns:

• Kilmarnock - Carlisle via Dumfries, and
• Carlisle - Manchester via Lancaster.

Its reassuring I was on the right lines. When I went through National Rail Enquiries, all I was offered were singles.

NRE can't cope with breaks of journey, basically.

trainsplit.com indicates that there is a small saving available by buying 2 separate Off-Peak Returns:

• Kilmarnock - Carlisle via Dumfries, and
• Carlisle - Manchester via Lancaster.

Just to add that the Kilmarnock to Carlisle off peak return has a 09.15 restriction. You would still be able to leave on the 09.18 with an earliest arrival in Manchester at 13.15.
