The train stuck in the down platform at Hampden Park (what was 2G35) has now departed, just under 5 hours late! Could be a sign of a fix. EDIT: scratch that - the train is shunting from the down to up to head up to Brighton presumably. Still no trains via Eastbourne.

Generally speaking, Southern seems to be suffering from a hell of a lot of unit faults recently, culminating mostly in peak-time short forms, but also cancellations at times. I know for the majority of the time this can be put down to 377s being borrowed to cover faulty 313s, but there still...

On a general note, I can't stand the platform announcements on Southern now. In the old days of Phil Sayer, for instance, the information was delivered with authority, but it made sense. Now, however, there are pauses in weird places and it just doesn't seem as natural.

They did when the units were used on the Southern peak-time Eastbourne-London Bridge-Eastbourne services. With the often inaudible Guard's PA announcement being the only thing to go on, I'd imagine a lot of passengers were overcarried.

Yeah, it's strange that it does that. I know the Worthing portion stops to set down only after Haywards Heath, with the Eastbourne portion doing the same (with the exception of Lewes), so I wonder if it's anything to do with that.
