Brighton Main Line Closure (16 - 24 February)

http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/advanced/EBN/2019/02/25/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt - interesting that on Monday, RTT are listing 'Q' paths for the diverted Brighton (vice London) trains that have been running from Eastbourne this week. I hope this isn't a signifier of a...

Brighton Main Line Closure (16 - 24 February)

To be fair, this Twitter page (https://twitter.com/brighton_line) provides a very interesting insight into the work going on.

Brighton Main Line Closure (16 - 24 February)

I wouldn't like to be the OBS on that one! Obviously, there'll be no PIS message available for this service, so will have to do lots of manual announcements! Cue plenty of confused passengers!

Brighton Main Line Closure (16 - 24 February)

Well, I'll admit, I'm now eating humble pie! Despite the confusion surrounding the direct Brighton-Three Bridges buses, it seems GTR have actually organised a good replacement bus service. If this can continue for the rest of the week, I'll take my hat off to the management team (for the first...

Brighton Main Line Closure (16 - 24 February)

So, plans are still changing? I do hope my fellow passengers realise that none of the inevitable chaos next week is down to frontline staff, but I do fear there'll be a lot of anger displayed on the ground (especially to the poor souls dealing with the buses at Three Bridges).

Brighton Main Line Closure (16 - 24 February)

The city still has to run, half term or not. Highlighting a clear level of misinformation is not making matters sound worse than they are...it's fact. Yes, us passengers (who pay for this and won't get any compensation) have had plenty of prior warning, but so has the TOC, and you would've...

One bus has already given up! https://twitter.com/DaveGander/status/1096811819207938049

Brighton Main Line Closure (16 - 24 February)

The plan seems to include buses with Drivers who aren't familiar with the area, and who have no way (with the exception of a piece of paper with basic directions on) of navigating the roads! https://twitter.com/DanielGurr/status/1096815780413485056

Brighton Main Line Closure (16 - 24 February)

Not during the week they won't! I hope GTR get their act together in the next 24 hours!

Brighton Main Line Closure (16 - 24 February)

So, on the first day of the blockade it seems GTR have already messed up on the replacement buses. This week saw plenty of confusion surrounding the fast buses between Brighton and Three Bridges, which usually operate on weekend line closures. Over the last few days, the Twitter team had...

    Possible 313 fire at Shoreham - 25/01

Ah yes, I forgot about that!

    Possible 313 fire at Shoreham - 25/01

If it's as bad as 377 442, I can't see it returning. There isn't the flexibility with the 313s to take a coach out, sadly. If this is the case, another 313 will have to be sourced from GN until at least the end of the franchise, as they can't keep taking 377s from peak-time diagrams. Either...

Shopping Trolleys & 3rd Rail = happy excited idiots. Current punishment suiting the crime?

The aforementioned human rights lawyers who claim the criminals are 'misunderstood', I'd assume.

    Class 171 and 377 compatibility

Ah yes. I remember that morning well! I got stuck somewhere between Balcombe and Three Bridges for the same reason on one of the first London-bound services of the day from Eastbourne...somehow, it managed to get through the icy rails between Glynde and Berwick, and also managed to climb the...

    Class 171 and 377 compatibility

I'm sure I've seen it mentioned on here somewhere that a 377 was rescued by a 171 after being caught up in a landslip/major snowfall event (or something along those lines) on the BML many years ago. I don't recall seeing any photos though.

Why are the Marshlink Line 171 trains still only two coaches instead of four coaches?

The system used on 171s is door deselect, not SDO like the 377s - and Eastbourne Guards can, and do, use it. Three Oaks and Doleham, for example, can only accommodate 1 coach each, so when stopping at either of these stations the Guard will key on at the saloon panel in the leading coach and...

Opinion: longer platforms on southern east coastway

For reference: London Road can accommodate 6; Moulsecoomb 4; Falmer 8; and Lewes 6 (7 on the westbound platform). Totally agree with the point of this post - 8 coaches is not enough, and can easily lead to mayhem when a service stops at a station with a short platform and the train is too...

    Possible 313 fire at Shoreham - 25/01
