The driver in my experience on Thameslink tells you of cut stops ( usually fast from Letchworth to Cambridge) not the overhead screens which usually carry the usual stopping pattern for quite a while after the decision to skip stops is taken.

I hate the GWML, the trains to Devon ride very poorly, with a sickening random violent side lurch on occasion coupled with the paper thin cushions is actually painful. Much more comfy in the car.
