I recently bought a Peterborough to High Wycombe ( Chiltern Line) Advance from the LNER website , as expected the Peterborough to Kings Cross legs was reserved but surprisingly so was the Marylebone to High Wycombe journey . The exact train time was printed on the ticket. This is the first time...
The Avanti website quotes :
"Any customers with existing tickets for travel from 26 to 28 July can use those tickets anytime between now and 29 July."
I have an Advance Euston to Glasgow Central ticket dated for travel on Thurs 28th July. I assume that I will be allowed to travel anytime on...
Thanks . I assumed that trains may have stopped running earlier than usual and this would result in a vastly different timetable . I would like to get into Glasgow by 1400. The earliest train I'm able to catch is the 0730.
I assume tickets date for 28th Jul will be valid anytime on 26th Jul
What sort of train frequency are we looking at for Jul 26th on the Euston to Glasgow route . It's a day before the strike and I'm looking to reschedule my journey for an early (0730ish) train up to Glasgow.
With the new rail strike due to take place on 27th July will TFL and Avanti West Coast still be running as I don't see those two TOCs mentioned in any reports.

Scotrail are selling tickets for travel in August from Mallaig to Glasgow Queen St on the 1010 which under the current amended timetable is not running. I assume anyone who buys tickets for that train has to travel on the 0603 departure instead ?
Yes indeed. It is a pain that the only practical day train from Mallaig to Glasgow which connects to services to London and the South will be the 0603 departure. The said train will be busier than normal I guess as the holiday season has now started. I notice that Scottish Citylink have started...
Planning a trip to the NW Highlands late July but as the preferred train of choice is not running I may have to book an advance coach ticket instead. Is there any likelihood of the timetables reverting back to normal by then ?
Thanks.
The return from Mallaig will be several days later but it does work out cheaper when getting an Off Peak Return Glasgow to Mallaig and a single from Tyndrum Lower to Oban.
The discounted ticket will not be valid on the 0603 MLG-GLQ but if the next train , the 10.10 , does not run will I be able...
It may be difficult to get cheap Advance tickets on Scotrail due to the unpredictability of the timetable so I was thinking of getting a combination of an Off Peak Return (SVR) and singles :
Outwards :
GLQ - Tyndrum Any : Off Peak Return ( using Scotrail Club 50 discount ) £26.45
Tyndrum...
There must have been a fares update over the weekend as I've managed to get very reasonable tickets from GLC - Eus for travel in August. There are cheap(er) tickets ( £35 - £51 single ) available on the 1/08 from EUS-GLC
I seem to have noticed a lack of Advance tickets on the West Highland line between Glasgow Queen St and Oban / Mallaig / Fort William ( and vice versa ) . Hoping to travel in about 9-10 weeks time but nothing seems available . When trying to book on the Scotrail website advances are listed as...
I have only ever used paper tickets ( the standard CCS ones ) and am thinking of migrating to e-tickets in PDF format. I assume that the ticket will be emailed to me in the form of a PDF file which I can transfer onto my phone. What security measures / features are in place so this said file...
Would this ticket be valid for exit (on the outward journey) at Darlington station ? As there are barriers in place I'm unsure as to whether the ticket would open the gates, hence causing an issue with staff at the station.
Thanks.
Will there be a Scotrail Club 50 ' Flat Fare Offer ' in the coming weeks ? There is normally one such offer available during the Feb school half term ( England).
XC have warned passengers of the possibility of last minute cancellations due to staff shortages and as my journey originates south of Birmingham I was toying with the idea of using XC from Banbury to Manchester and TPE from there onwards. Previous experience has taught me that BHM to DAR route...
I have to do this trip over the coming days really do want to avoid cramped conditions and very little luggage room. Do people seem to be starting the Xmas getaway early so the journey won't be as unpleasant as usual ? I may come to a compromise and travel via Manchester and then TPE from...
