Would this ticket be valid for exit (on the outward journey) at Darlington station ? As there are barriers in place I'm unsure as to whether the ticket would open the gates, hence causing an issue with staff at the station.
Thanks.

On the assumption that it's valid for travel via Darlo (not quite got the geography in my head), there is no break of journey restriction on this fare (quite the opposite, it even describes how restrictions apply after a break on both legs):

and so yes, this is allowed. It is however unlikely to open the gates and you'll need to ask to be let through, but in my experience this is rarely if ever refused.

Thanks. The ticket is valid via Darlington (where you can change onto Northern trains) or York ( going via Yarm on TPE ).

In theory the tickets should open the gate if it's a valid break of journey - works with most of the barriered stations in Yorkshire and the NE, with a few exceptions. I am aware of one where this doesn't work and have raised it with Northern (the station operator) on a number of occasions. They always agree that it should work and promise it'll be sorted, but it never is. I gave up asking eventually as they were clearly never going to actually sort it. Just a case of show it to the barrier minders anyway (which is fine so long as they aren't busy selling tickets).

I would expect the ticket to be accepted in the barriers at Darlington and, if it isn't, would not expect the staff to have any problem with it anyway.
