    SWR "Summer timetable"

Thanks for the clarification. Yes this would have been an acceptable solution.

    SWR "Summer timetable"

But that's not the case on the Windsor lines, those three trains in a row are cancelled and then the service seems to return to normal for most of the day it's not a simple reduction to an hourly service.

    Waterloo East.

Exactly safety first before any commercial consideration.

    SWR "Summer timetable"

Yes they seem to be targeting the first trains after the fares change rather than mid off peak trains. First 3 off peak trains from Feltham in the morning are all cancelled . Thats why the 9:09 from reading (10:05 from Feltham) is so busy.

Last BR blue and grey train/coach

There is a 455 set running on SWR in these colours Although admittedly it is a repaint not original. https://images.app.goo.gl/JkEf2qBzWrF8U56EA Not sure how to post directly but this is a link to the Ian visits site.

    SWR "Summer timetable"

Windsor is probably busiest off peak in August. With school holidays and tourists visiting Thorpe park, Legoland and Windsor castle. It will be standing room only

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

Seems like the Windsor lines have slipped down the priority list. Not only are they not getting priority for 701s as they were getting at one point they are now getting short formed trains. Have they recovered less after COVID than the other routes? They always seem busy to me.

Why does the Weybridge - Waterloo service have to wait at Virginia Water?

Ok thanks I wasn't sure if it was SWT or SWR but on reflection it was part of SWR timetable recast that never happened. On the schools question I think that some of them are church schools and thus have a larger catchment area

Why does the Weybridge - Waterloo service have to wait at Virginia Water?

There is quite a flow of school children travelling in both directions between the weybridge line and the Hounslow loop. This traffic came to light during planning for the pre COVID 4 tph Windsor Waterloo service. These extra services would have broken the link by reinstating the weybridge...

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

I agree, the centre of the carriage on a 450 tends to be a bit warmer then beneath the air outlets near the doors. You can feel the difference as you walk through. I stop when it feels cool enough. Agree also that the 458s are very pleasant. The old 458/5 used to be a bit varied with half the...

Why does the Weybridge - Waterloo service have to wait at Virginia Water?

I think that people were suggesting that the wait at Virginia water permits people arriving from the weybridge service to catch the faster train towards London. There is one exception around 8am where the train from Weybridge runs ahead of the reading train

SWR Class 458 to be retained

As I no longer commute at busy times I would be more than happy if they stay on the Windsor lines

SWR Class 458 to be retained

Purely from a passenger comfort view I beg to differ. The upgraded 458s are much more comfortable outside the peak.

SWR Class 458 to be retained

I caught a 458/5 this morning as part of a short formed Reading service :'(. It's been a while since I travelled on one. It was quite nostalgic to feel the hesitation as it tried to pull away from Twickenham. This behaviour appears to have been cured by the traction upgrade in the 458/4s

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

701 from Twickenham to Feltham this lunchtime, running late due to staffing issues but air con was fine

Excellent thanks very much that is exactly what I was after

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

Sorry I didn't make myself clear. I know the different train classes. It's the diagram coding as I was interested on which routes the 701s can be found on. I do know that they run on the Windsor and shepperton routes. Which part of the code gives the route is it the upper case letter?

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

I am afraid that recent posts on this thread are opaque to the casual reader who does not understand the codes

SWR Class 458 to be retained

As someone from Feltham, definitely not. Also Feltham provides a link to Heathrow
