Boat trip on the Forggensee is a good idea. Although it is manmade, you get some good views, but it is a trot out of town (15-20 mins. ) and only runs in the summer

There is an underpass under the ECML just down from Grantham Station that leads from the town side of the station to the other side of the tracks - when I lived there I only tried it once. Once was more than enough of that dank dark smelly hole!

Thanks for the info guys, We stopped there on Thursday - the station newsagent also sold good coffee and pastries. The town is just outside, but the boss stuck her nose out, saw the snow and declared that she wasn't going anywhere - so the delights of the town were missed by us on this occasion.

Hi. Has anyone changed trains there? We have an hour and a quarter between trains and wondered if anyone knows how far it is from the town or whether there are any nearby cafes to pass the time. Thanks

There used to be the remains of some concrete slab experimental track on the former Melton Mowbray line via Barnstone(?) from the Grantham to Nottingham line - on the south side of the track near Radcliffe or Bingham (memory fails me)

When I went past yesterday, there seemed to be a lot of leveling and laying of gravel/ballast at the former sidings site at Moreton cutting (between Didcot and Cholsey) and what looked like a load of pipes. Does anybody know what this is being done for? Looks like a storage area being created...
