Work in Moreton Cutting sidings site

When I went past yesterday, there seemed to be a lot of leveling and laying of gravel/ballast at the former sidings site at Moreton cutting (between Didcot and Cholsey) and what looked like a load of pipes. Does anybody know what this is being done for? Looks like a storage area being created for some project.

Ok - an update for today. Those pipes look like the bases for OHE masts, so I guess it must be something to do with the electricifcation of the Paddington line

What you are calling 'pipes' are tubular steel piles.

As pictured in the 'NW electrification update' posted earlier...

The site is part of the OLE project. What it's for exactly I don't know as I'm not on that project, but that's who are doing it.

Interestingly, you can see the first part (excepting the stuff installed by the Reading station project) of the new GW OLE at Pangbourne. They have installed some trial piles in the Down Main cess.

FYI they are around the 41m 60ch mark to be precise. There's 10 of them. One of them even has a nice plaque on it commemorating it as the first pile for GW Electrification.

It's quite small and not much above ground level but it's there.
