Bellegarde (Ain), France

Hi. Has anyone changed trains there? We have an hour and a quarter between trains and wondered if anyone knows how far it is from the town or whether there are any nearby cafes to pass the time. Thanks

I imagine the station is fairly decent as it was upgraded as part of the Haut-Bugey line upgrade (For Paris - Geneva services).

Been through it several times both before and since the upgrade to the Haut-Bugey line. The view from the train suggests the station in quite near any facilities you might need.

I have stayed in Bellegarde overnight, and you can easily take a pleasant stroll through the town centre from the station

We stopped there on Thursday - the station newsagent also sold good coffee and pastries. The town is just outside, but the boss stuck her nose out, saw the snow and declared that she wasn't going anywhere - so the delights of the town were missed by us on this occasion.
