I agree it's an extremely small part of overall spending. I imagine it's also a small part of accessibility spending, but I couldn't find a single overall figure for that.
It just strikes me as unlikely to have a compelling benefit case compared to what else you could use it for. As others...
Being deaf doesn't prohibit learning English, so why should they be specially assisted when there is 1/11th of the benefit case?
I think this is fair. Some of this is a point of design, but usually the BSL deployments reduce the amount of display space available to minimise the need for...
According to the most recent census there were 22,000 users of BSL as their "main" language and 65% of those could not understand English "well". So 14,000 people.
According to the most recent National Transport Survey, 41% of the population never travel by train. So 8,000 people.
We're...
You appear to be upset that someone went home at the end of their shift and you didn't suffer some imagined negative experiences because you actually got a taxi?
I'm currently half way through an All Line Rover and earlier today was on a Transport for Wales 197 (forget where) that stopped next to a signal box to, I think, receive a train staff to proceed further.
It occurred to me that the line had potentially been signalled that way for a century or...
I was there a couple of days ago (I'm originally from Darlo) and must admit I'm not quite sure how to feel about it.
Positive to see what is clearly a large spend and nice new areas and useful platform capacity.
But agree the long corridor to the new exit seems a confusing design and not...
It's not really practical to ban train enthusiasts and I don't think (hope) anyone would do it over a few idiots. BTP catching a couple with a reasonable amount of publicity might help?
So the underlying data exists to allow individual seat selection on other TOCs they're just choosing not to implement it? That does seem a bit problematic.
What's the extent ticket retailers are signed up to obligations of neutrality or similar where they're also a TOC or have another vested...
I suppose Cross Country's logic is that its trains are generally ambling across a wide patch and can therefore pick off ticket commission from multiple TOCs? LNER's logic is probably more that it needs the commission less from non-LNER journeys that are still primarily ECML and wants the ticket...
I agree, those messages alone mean the display is showing 12 services when it could otherwise fit 16 services. That's really wasteful at a station like Leeds when there will easily be people showing up for trains that are not within the next 12 departures.
I think I would lean towards provided it's substantially profitable and only removes a sensible number of wayfaring signs (say less than half and in a distributed manner so unaltered signs are visible at regular intervals) then take the money. It's less needing to come from fares, taxes or...
Thanks for the quick response! From Batley the colleague will just want to go home to Chesterfield with no particular route preference, that's probably quickest via Leeds but would be interested in hearing if it's cheaper a different way?

I have a colleague based in Chesterfield who I'd like to get to the start of the Transpennine Rail Ale Trail at the Stalybridge end and then along the full length of it to Batley.
Is this as simple as a Chesterfield to Batley Off-Peak Day Return at £22.80 (subject to a 09:30 start), can that be...

Hi all,
I'm having an initial look at doing a first class 14 day All Line Rover, are there any interesting model itineraries maintained by anyone that could be used as a starting point for planning? :)
Earlier today I finally prevailed over Northern for a delay repay claim of single-digit pounds that I made on 24 October last year. In the process they:
Initially rejected my claim because the train supposedly did not exist... that being the train I selected from the timetable search on their...
