I imagine the majority of journeys from Leeds are at a 'turn up and go' frequency where it wouldn't matter. If you're on an advance ticket or catching an infrequent service, I think it's fairly sensible to allow enough contingency for something like this (or the plethora of other things that...
The claimant did seem to miraculously change his position when the tribunal highlighted the paradox that you can't be discriminated against over an event that it's your position didn't happen at all. Interesting how that wasn't identified in advance when he was being represented by a barrister...
I commuted to Leeds from Crossflatts for three years, which I think is in that category of 1980s standardised wooden West Yorkshire stations characterised by vertical diagonal planks along the platform length (like seen in my profile picture at my current local station).
Perhaps not the worst...
They can exercise police powers inside a railway station, they just aren't the primary police service that does so.
I think they would also be able to use police powers to temporarily block access to highways to do that, which in this case seems like a sensible measure to prevent potential...
This seems to be the case: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/69539019542c867b685c4078/Peter_Duffy_v_London_North_Eastern_Railway_Limited_2502343-23_Reasons.pdf

How much stock are their short of being able to run every longer service with at least eight cars (not counting the current Turbostar routes)? Could that be obtained if they concentrated on a slightly more core route as suggested above (e.g. Edinburgh to Plymouth, Newcastle to Bristol)?
To make businesses list ingredients correctly, which is not the point being complained about here. If you have a severe allergy I think it's entirely reasonable to be responsible for asking and you shouldn't need to be prompted by the retailer.
Is there any evidence that this mountain of...
Work surely is as much LNER's problem as the staff member, who will be being paid anyway?
The bad example probably stacks up for leisure purposes.
Any idea what the argument is for it breaching H&S law?
Unless they're the state-owned TOCs, I think this might risk amplifying the opposing commercial interests even further which would further drive a culture of minimum necessary compliance. I'm not saying that's right, but I'm saying it's possible it would be the result.
I suppose on the...
I'm sure it's too late to fundamentally change now, but perhaps from the origin setting up a central body that was able to allocate liability for claims to TOCs might have been the way to go. There'd be no incentive either to deny claims, make the process difficult to reduce claims or allocate...
I think an automated first look is a good principle, it can approve a large proportion of cases instantly if configured sensibly. My Northern claim made on 11 October is still unresolved, having seemingly been manually reviewed once (given it took a fortnight) and now awaiting an appeal...
Thanks! Is this, summary only offence with a maximum fine of £200 if I've read the amendments correctly, the only one available? Feels like it's not going to have any deterrent effect at all.
In this case the balance seems to tip heavily towards stopping at a station because of the location where awareness of the incident was gained and the proximity of Huntingdon station.
Although obviously a difficult and awful decision to have to make, a few minutes longer on the train with the...
I think they said it'd been recently released in a BTP statement and they have now repeated it a few times. They also seem to have just changed the London reporter, possibly pulled in someone a bit more senior?
Also seem to have a live camera on scene now on the bridge, showing what might be a...
