I agree with this. I have seen no defense of Main's actions, his behavior or the act of fare dodging. Only that the intervention by a member of the public in what is effectively a commercial dispute was unwarranted and is a separate crime in itself.
You have a very narrow view of assault...
Also remember, that some members of this forum haven't entirely lost their grip on reality and can still see that assault, without exception, is a serious crime. A crime greater than the minor offense of fare evasion. In this instance the has scroat the higher ground.
Justice isn't delivered...
It does sound like you've got an appalling lecturer. Instead of taking notes, ask him/her for a copy of slides and spend the rest of the day in the pub.
As others have said, PowerPoint is a great way of getting a point across, but it can be used badly, but its not the PowerPoint thats at fault.
Loads of them. Not all rail transport though, but mostly centered on relieving Lancaster's ridiculous traffic problems and breathing life in to Morecambe.
How about an ultra light rail system for Lancaster and Morecambe? And a bypass, and few extra bridges over the lune.
Money no object...
I thought this was a general discussion. I didn't see the OP address anyone in particular, nor could I expect a definitive answer to exist for this question.
So what if it did degenerate to drivel? The thread would die once the discussion had run its course.
I would never presume to...
This type of thread amuse me. I had to double check that the title wasn't "When IS it a good idea to have a teddy bears picnic on the mainline approach to a London terminus during rush hour". Some of reactions I have read give the impression that the railway is so dangerous that just looking...
Whenever the track represents a refuge from something more dangerous.
Train on fire, axe wielding maniac on the platform. That type of thing.
Alternatively, if my child fell off the platform, see what happens if you tried to stop me jumping down after them.
There are valid reasons to...
I don't think anyone would argue that its not a difficult task to automate a national multiuser railway, but the question of 'why' is easy. Wonga.
Chuck enough money at this and you'll have viable solutions coming out of your ears.
Difference being that a plane won't just roll to a halt and await assistance if something fails. Regardless, there are plenty of examples around the world to demonstrate that the barrier to planes without pilots, and trains without drivers, isn't technological.
And behind every private penny held in the railways, and by every paying passenger left standing in the cold, the question will be asked: "Can't these damned things drive themselves already"?
Necessity, as they say, is the mother of invention.
You should already know how to do your job, the Job of the Project Manager is to coordinate your job with that of everyone else on the project.
A Project Manager doesn't need to be an expert to undertake reviews of design, but he/she does need to have the confidence that the team does have...
It is what it is, a user generated reference site. If you come across outdated or inaccurate information on there, whats stopping you from correcting it? Its not all about what you can take, you can contribute if you think you know better.
At least its referenced and peer reviewed. You...
By all means. I flipped burgers at the Trekkers cafe on Lancaster station in the 90s, thirteen hour shifts sometimes, for less than three quid an hour. I worked on the railway, so I too should get these benefits
I would sincerely love unrestricted free international travel for me...
Petitioning the government to intervene in private sector staff benefits.
It was a hell of a benefit, sure, but even on a forum full of railway employees, I can't be the only one to despair at this expression of self entitlement
Thats the reference I read thank you. Its a fascinating niche of rail history and would love to learn more about the cooperation and interoperability of these different networks. Would make a great thesis.
Some time ago I remember reading online that, prior to the dismantling of the Tram systems before the 1960s, that it was possible for one vehicle to cross the various networks and be driven from Liverpool over to Manchester. I am trying to find something which backs this.
