Ticketer and Google Wallet Express Pay

I have recently upgraded to a phone with NFC. I see that TfL support Google Wallet 'Express Pay', whereby the phone only needs to be awake (screen on) rather than needing to be unlocked. Does Ticketer support this feature ? If the answer varies by operator, I would be using Arriva in...

    Signatures on railcards

I recently renewed my senior railcard (plastic, no photo). As per the conditions, it said NOT VALID UNLESS SIGNED. So I signed it. What purpose does this serve ? Do staff ever ask a passenger to reproduce the signature ? Do they even look at the signature ?

Mystery aircraft in Hancock's Half Hour

Yesterday's TV re-run of Hancock's Half Hour included a short sequence of assorted military aircraft. One with wing root mounted jet engines caught my eye. It looks like there is another somewhat smoky engine under the fuselage. Does anybody know what the aircraft is ...

    "Sharp Scratch"

The standard medical patter when giving an injection is 'sharp scratch'. Does anybody feel that ? To me, sharp scratches are what you get from a rose bush or a displeased cat. Injections don't feel anything like that. If anything, they feel like a minor bone fracture, such as a finger.

ITSO Tickets: Can staff see more than a TVM shows to a passenger ?

(Prompted by another thread where it was stated that all railcard discounted tickets show the railcard used. Posted a bit later than planned.) Can a guard/RPI etc. see more detail of an ITSO card than a TVM will show the passenger ? In particular, my local TVM only shows 'Concessionary'...

    Hoarding on Stevenage station footbridge

At Stevenage, the footbridge over the down slow is currently reduced in width by a substantial hoarding, see image below, showing the area behind the hoarding. The image also shows where the original brick wall used to be. It could be that a suspect wall has been removed and will be replaced...

    Amending keyGo activity

I put this here under "other post-travel ticketing issues". Yesterday (4th Apr), I used keyGo for the first time. Not totally unexpectedly, the recorded activity does not match my travel. The website says "Amend before 13th Apr 2023", but I can't find where to make the appropriate amendments...

Verifying details of singles and returns loaded onto an ITSO card

I am mindful of advice elsewhere always to check the details of tickets to be sure they are valid for the intended travel. But what of singles and returns loaded onto ITSO cards ? Today I used a ticket office to buy an off peak return on The Key. I got no record human-readable record of the...

    Images on non-photo physical railcards

What purpose do the images on non-photo physical railcards serve ? Senior has 'yachts at anchor'. Friends & Family has a Ferris Wheel. Both images are split across five smaller frames. There do appear to be multiple versions of both images, the available sample is small.

Once an Arriva m-ticket 'single' is activated, how long before it expires ?

Once an Arriva m-ticket 'single' is activated, how long before it expires ? I was unable to find this in the FAQ. I suspect it expires at the end of the day it is activated, but would prefer to be sure.

    Stevenage<>Hitchin, no e-tickets, paper/ToD only

I recently travelled Stevenage<>Hitchin, out Saturday, back Sunday. I used the ticket office. As I may be repeating the journey, I looked it up on the forum ticket sales site. The tickets (two super off-peak singles) are only available as paper/ToD. I am not seeking to repeat any of the...

Ticketer response to a QR code on a ticket

In the last year or so, the local bus companies (Stevenage) have added QR codes to return tickets. The reader looks like Ticketer. My problem is that it doesn't appear to give any conspicuous indication that the code has been accepted. No flashing light, no beep, not that I have spotted...

Carrageenan Nasal Spray for COVID-19 Prophylaxis (ICE-COVID)

An earlier post made reference to 'Boots Dual Defence Nasal Spray' being used as an off-label precaution against Covid. The active ingredient is Carrageenan, a seaweed extract. The current claim is 'Helps stop cold and flu like symptoms'. However, some seem to think it might be useful at...
