    Stagecoach X5 Oxford-Cambridge

Yesterday in Oxford I spotted an X5 being operated by a Cambridge busway vehicle, have Stagecoach withdrawn their coaches?

    Travelling on Crosscountry?

Just what the rules regarding reservations on XC? I may need to make a short journey from Reading to Oxford tomorrow, am I really expected to reserve a seat for a 20 minute journey? Is there no option to stand?

Buying a ticket at first opportunity...

There’s a separate entrance leading to the car park from the London bound platform that is ungated

Buying a ticket at first opportunity...

I had to make two changes, Gerrards Cross and Princes Risborough, their ticket offices weren’t open.

Buying a ticket at first opportunity...

Yesterday I had to travel from West Ruislip to Birmingham, although it’s a Tube station there is a Chiltern ticket machine at platform level which I decided to use because I had a problem using my chosen train app. However, some scrote decided to spit on the touch screen, so instead of using it...

    Best App for purchasing tickets

From tomorrow I need to start using the train again but I’d rather keep interactions to a minimum, which is the best app to purchase tickets from? Preferably one with e-tickets rather than m-tickets...

    Pilkingtons Accrington/pilkingtonbus/Boomerang Travel

Are Pilkingtons the ones who avoided the DDA by removing seats so their buses could be described as minibuses?

    National Express service withdrawals?

I don’t see passenger numbers picking up for a while. Let’s be honest, would you really want to be stuck on a coach for hours on end with someone potentially coughing and spluttering? At least on a train if you feel uncomfortable you can change carriages or at the worst get off the train and...

Being prosecuted for using pay as you go oyster card belonging to someone else

Why do these TOC’s just blindly prosecute people with these often vexatious claims? Far better to just scrap private prosecutions and leave it to the CPS...

    Wellglade group ticketing?

Why are Wellglades ticketing options so disparate? For example why is there no ticket you can buy that covers all four of their companies?

Trams onto Oxford Road in Manchester

To be fair I only use it because I have a ENCTS pass so you may have a point there

Trams onto Oxford Road in Manchester

The 41 goes down the Oxford Road though, if there’s a 41 I’ll always get it instead of the Stagecoach services as it gets me into town far faster

Trams onto Oxford Road in Manchester

To be fair, it does work. When visiting my sister in Rusholme I’ll avoid Magicbus as they always end up leaving Piccadilly Gardens full, whereas the ‘normal’ Stagecoach buses are always halfway empty, and if you’re lucky enough to get a 41, I often find I’m the only one on the bus.

What makes a good bus service?

Poorly presented. I don’t know why, but I always have a sense of unease when using buses in Birmingham, I’ve used buses in Los Angeles before and the whole vibe feels similar.

What makes a good bus service?

Cleanliness for me, for example National Express West Midlands buses always seem to be poorly maintained, with rubbish strewn all over the top deck and they also seem to have a real graffiti problem...

    Chiltern Railways major improvement proposal

If it were down to me, I’d close all the stations between Marylebone and Denham, with the exception of Wembley Stadium and perhaps either South or West Ruislip, Chiltern’s London stations are very lightly used and plenty of alternative options are available...

    Buses and the coronavirus

A shame, but who at this time wants to be cooped up on a coach for hours sitting in close proximity to other people? Megabus and Oxford Tube services have also been withdrawn

Coronavirus: Future of airlines and airports

Don’t get me wrong, I hope you’re right, I fly across the pond 3 or 4 times a year, but with the collapse of business travel I’m not convinced that air travel will be anything as cheap as it is (or was)

Coronavirus: Future of airlines and airports

What if a transatlantic flight costs two or three times more than it did before the pandemic? Because after this is over, there will be far less competition for business, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were was only one or two airlines flying between London and New York for a long time to come.
