I really don't think Nottingham, Derby or Sheffield will appreciate the loss of downgrading of their intercity links to the capital if as expected the stops on HS2 are out of the cities.
Have EMT retained route knowledge into Manchester with HST as they ran covering the period of WCML upgrades?
Otherwise Could Liverpool fans run up East Coast to Leeds and change to TPE there?
Yep been having a look at splitting in numerous ways but none that work. The cheapest fare finder says you can get from York to PNZ for £28 but doesn't show a single journey in that price range on any date!
It's just interesting that the idea of running the IEP with a diesel engine under the wires is considered ludicrous but you don't see so much criticism of the idea of a Voyager doing the same once the pantograph has been fitted. Hopefully in the near future the main cross-country routes will be...
Does anybody think we will see another DMU order for a generation? Would love to see something along the lines of the new DMU in Northern Ireland ordered for over here.
Where did you hear that?
Suppose it would make sense serving Darnell and Woodhouse more than Rotherham which already has better train links with Sheffield & the new BRT too. You could also have a new station at Waverley new-town which would be very attractive for developers, and perhaps extend...
Thanks for all your help, if I can't nab a £15 direct fair with FGW this week I'll book with SWT instead and spend a few hours in Exeter on the way down.
Cheers, couldn't see any cheap ones on the Saturday before we're travelling (the 14th) but will keep an eye out and see if we can nab one of these £15 tickets.
Exactly, this talk is ridiculous. The Arena is one of the two busiest arenas in the World and a significant contributor to the Manchester economy and number of people using the railways into the city. Yes it's a shame for Victoria that it was plonked there but what is done is done so time to...
All this talk of adding pantograph cars to the Voyagers, will it have an adverse affect on them running diesel? And what sort of speed will it be able to achieve when drawing power (carrying heavy diesel engines around)?
I suppose as long as you're at Waterloo nice and early and prepared to run for a good seat the second the train is announced then it'll be worth it, would hate to be standing all that way though!
The money saving is just too great though so going to have to do it this way I think.
Are there...
Just had a look at bookings for the weekend before I travel (the latest the booking engine will go to) and it's way way cheaper to travel this way! £13 as opposed to £42, although it's an hour longer. Might just book direct through South West Trains rather than Megatrain & pay the extra £3 as...
Thanks, should save us a few bob! Just the blurb on the form talks as if you've never had one before and not just if you're renewing (so says make sure you have a photo stamped too as well as the form).
Even better... Would need to be travelling down to London on a Friday night though, just checked for the last possible Friday to book on the engine & it says £14.60 so don't know if they put the price up on Friday evenings or if the cheapest tickets just get snapped up that quick!
