Looks like SWT won't be as cheap between London and Exeter in future... The cheapest bookings from July 18th onwards have gone from £13 per journey to £22.50, near enough a 75% rise!
Going to head to Sheffield on Monday but just wondering what the permitted routes are? Am I OK to go via Huddersfield as I quite fancy checking out the Penistone Line? And would a conductor be OK with me going this way even though there are several quicker routes?
Checked again today and advance tickets are still only available upto the 17th July (they have been for 3 days) and not beyond. Getting increasingly worried that they're not available on the 19th due to the Olympics, meanwhile EMT tickets have gone up quite a lot in that time as they're selling...
Cross Country and EMT both seem to be open for advanced fares on the 19th, and indeed I booked for the Saturday down to Cornwall on Sunday, so unless SWT only release week by week then they should be open by now.
The problem is in the meantime the XC price goes up which would be my...
I remember travelling on GNER in 1st class and them asking me to complete a survey asking if I'd prefer the buffet car to be taken over by any of these firms:
Pret a Manger
Starbucks
Costa
KFC
McDonalds
Greggs
Wetherspoons
etc
Does anyone know if advanced fares have been suspended for services into London for the period around the Olympics?
I'm wanting to book from Penzance to Sheffield on Thursday the 19th July, which is within the 12 week booking period now, however on both South West Trains and First Great...
One argument might be the huge reduction in subsidies and more frequent services that light rail conversion would bring, though I know it's not a popular one on this forum.
According to Czech Railways there is an early morning 05:07 service that is direct, then connections at Cheb (some with Pendolino), has anyone travelled via this route before?
Yeah I know it has a big drugs problem (made a film about it called Shed your tears and walk away) but it's still rather beautiful to visit for the day and lot's of nice places for real ale and walks around there.
Looking to travel to Prague and then eventually Berlin in a few months, have made the journey between Berlin and Prague before and know it's really beautiful following the Elbe a long way through Swiss Saxony, and passes through Dresden. And that the stock is a mixture of Hungarian junk, Czech...
Just imagine if the Great Central Main Line and Matlock - Buxton/Woodhead line hadn't been shut. We probably wouldn't even need to be looking at HS2 now as it could've functioned as a dedicated intercity mainline linking London - Leicester - Nottingham - Sheffield/Manchester and Leeds.
Thanks guys, it's still coming up as £60+ for the advanced fare even though it came on sell today and the headline price is less than half that, so think I'll just end up waiting a week and coming back via Exeter, SWT to Waterloo & EMT to Sheffield even though it takes longer as will save me £25.
I set up with AXC an e-mail alert to inform me when advanced fares came available for a trip from Cornwall to Sheffield, have recieved this alert now however despite the e-mail telling me that they are now available to book from the 19th if you go to their website they aren't and you can't book...
Does anyone know if Stagecoach are winding down Megabus plus services from the North.
Reason I ask is while you can book megabuses up until October on most routes, Megabus plus has been stuck on the 19th May for a month or two now. Not only that but all Tuesday and Thursday services prior to...
