No way! 159s are much much better than 444s, I don't know why they're so popular! Preferably something built in Britain rather than Germany.444s are uncomfortable and I don't think they look very nice. For now I think we should retain the 159s until something better is found.
Dr Beeching- what an idiot!
Tisbury does have a 1986 added passing loop which cost £435,000 outside the station. I'd personally love the idea of redoubling my local line: the trackbed is wide enough (I think) and would be a nice improvement to the current 1tph.
Why just Templecombe/ Yeovil to Pinhoe? Might as well do it all the way to Wilton and Exeter while you're at it! Then we can get a better service than the 1tph at the moment.
1) Most staff would be willing to let you through if you explain clearly you're a rail enthusiast and are not trying to fare-dodge. Some TOCs issue platform tickets for access to the platforms. I rarely use this method if I'm photographing because almost always I've got the train to that...
This destination board is clearly very wrong! The train shown here is supposedly 7 hours late although the (Warminster to Westbury) journey is normally less than 10 minutes! Even First Great Western aren't that delayed!
Oh dear First Great Western by Charlie Trains, on Flickr
I found when I went to Slovenia this summer there was hardly a single train which wasn't covered in graffiti. Must be very hard to look out the windows in some of these!
Does anyone know the times of the "Yorkshire Christmas Festival" by Nenta Traintours. I cannot find the timings on their website but I would like to see this train!
I forgot to add, it's on Saturday December 1st if you didn't already know.
Thanks
I'd love to see those Network Southeast seats on those 321s but I don't know if there are any left now! I do love the old interiors as a rail enthusiast but I bet many commuters hate them! The interiors on my local train the SWT Class 159 date from 2000 but they're pretty normal feeling really...
Yeah, I always wondered why there was such a awful ride over that section on the West of England Mainline. The rest of the ride is pretty good but that bit is just like cu-clonk-cu-clonk-cu-clonk for several minutes!
Des anyone know some old interiors of trains which still run around the UK mainline? By this I mean old seat covers/ carpets etc which have been the same for years.
I'd just be interested to know if there are any particularly old ones out there!
Thanks very much
Itd be nice to see at least one of these before the livery disappears! I managed to photograph the LM 150107 in its CT livery a couple of weeks ago at Bletchley which was lucky! Do you know where the interiors of the GA 153s and 156s originate from? Thanks very much for all the info and I'm...
Do you know what area they operate in? I'm going up to GA area for the first time properly the weekend after next (Norwich) and I don't know if they'll run around there?
thanks
Yeovil Junction is miles out of Yeovil meaning you have to get a bus for about 2 miles before you get into Yeovil itself. It's near the village of Stoford. Yeovil Pen Mill Station however is actually in Yeovil but is on a different line and annoyingly they don't link up at all, even though...
