    can you alter advance tickets?

Not sure if auto barriers will, depends how they are set up. Human barrier should be ok though! As long as the train calls at the station off course, or is marked for example "and connections"..... But the ticket would only be valid to the station indicated - again, unless its a "connection"...

    Question about networkers

Yes, you are correct on what you say. Newer ones are LED versions (much clearer and more definitive) but the mark on the phot of where the light was was definatly a "flip type display".

    Question about networkers

Technically, neither - as said above, they are a flip type display - one side is yellow, other is black - program displays correct side required to display segment. Very similar to bright-tec displays or the slightly more modern flip-dot displays. LEDs would use light to show lit or unlit...

    Wrong sort of suicide

Hmm, unfortunatly the way things are these days, anything involving our somewhat strange human behaviour at times the answer to that would seem to be no - unless gigantic walls were built around all railway lines and all platforms had automatic doors. Even then I'm sure they'd still find a way...

    Wrong sort of suicide

I have seen this sort of thing too - one happend in the platform one day, luckily spotted though. We also had a local woman who used to be a regular, she'd standnear to the edge of the platform then walk towards the edge as a train approached, scared a few of my mates more than once. Also know...

    Question about networkers

Flip-types are prone to this when old or worn. The segments occasionally fail and allow light to show ( They may stick or simply fall out. They work on the principal of a 2 state system, one side is black, the other is yellow and normally a magnetic pulse will activate the required side to...

    SWT 455 formations on Sundays

4 Car running is correct although SWT do occasionally strengthen units for special events. 458s only normally work Reading-Waterloos at weekends, although can be supplemented by desiros.

    Arriva 142's

Most of the Valleylines services is still booked for pairs to run throughout the day. Saturdays and sundays vary considerably, especially on match days! No specific 142 diagrams appear as as have been already said they are shared workings and can vary day to day as required. I have noticed...

    Wrong Train Upsets Passengers

FGW: Avoncliffe, Freshford, Dilton Marsh are all short platforms to name but a few - guard uses PA to "Will passengers for x station please alight from the front door of the front coach only at this station....". This includes 143 combinations etc. Some guards actually think about it and...

    Auto Anouncments - Errors/funny sayings

Have noticed some of the swt ontrain stuff has been playing up quite badly in some places lately. Some messages just scroll the full list all the way through, some dont play out this is.... etc, some are one or two stations behind. Would asume probably a database download problem or GPS kit...

    I actually found a train I like - Southwest electric Soton>Waterloo

Thought it was! Didn't they have a ruling on power notch and had to cut out some of the traction motors if I remember correctly?

    I actually found a train I like - Southwest electric Soton>Waterloo

All are now booked to be single unit to weymouth from beyond poole - substations cant take power load from the two units together. As far as I am aware, modifcations had to be carried out to allow them to run the 2 trains per hour timetable they now have. The first desiro on the lymi line shut...

    Swindon - Paddington, 1A16

From what I can work out 158/9s are still cleared for Paddington. However, as they are not ATP fitted this would limit any working as this is now necessary for units working into the area. This was one of the resons for VT pulling out as they would have had to have fitted atp to their trains...

    Attitude Doesn't Help

As long as people follow the rules then you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Print out a copy of the nextwrok rail guildlines available from their website. If you are asked then show them a copy of it. At the end of the day, if it says passengers must not pass this point or cross the...
