I have Advance tickets booked for a December strike day, if I wish to cancel the tickets the LNER website appears to suggest e-voucher credit is the only option ? Anyone had experience on them allowing a normal refund ?
EMR services from Nottingham to Norwich on Sunday 16th are diverted via Oakham, some departures like the 1850 don't show up on National Rail search (or even EMR website) instead it suggests changing at Leicester for XC to Ely then Greater Anglia to Norwich. GWR mixing desk however finds it...
Planned trip Paddington - Penzance next week got to change plans due to GWR strike Saturday. Was going catch 1204 on Friday instead but now seen elsewhere that it's rammed every day (and Newquay boardmasters will be on as well) as it's first super off-peak through train. Thoughts on changing at...
GWR have changed refund arrangements for sleeper berths, above 14 days ahead it's 100% ( £10 Admin charge) 7-13 days is 75% (minus £10 admin) Less than 7 days is no refund at all, seems harsh as they can resell if cancelled. The previous arrangements allowed some refund up to 1600 on date of...
Sleeper Advance (berth inclusive) fares appear to have been withdrawn ? Only berth supplements appear to be bookable currently, and only these are mentioned on GWR website now, it suggests these are priced according to demand.
This morning 0725 Norwich to Lowestoft (2J66) encountered flood water just before Haddiscoe. The crew detrained small number of passengers and were collected by 2C01 diverted from Reedham. For those not familiar with the area a river runs adjacent to the line. Ballast was reported to be being...

Today Romford ROC had a power failure which stopped all services to/from London Liverpool St. Presumably there will some difficult questions asked as to why backup supply did not work. How unusual is a complete meltdown in ROC PSB etc ?
Surprised no-one else has mentioned this today - 2H21 GA 0942 Cambridge North to Liverpool St. formed of 2 x 4 car class 379 reportedly divided while between Harlow Mill and Harlow Town, handful of pax detrained safely. Any history of this type of problem with 379's and what is line speed in...
Starting at December timetable change many Norwich - Cambridge services will be extended through to Stansted Airport. A quick scan shows some revised timings from Norwich starting at XX27 which will give more even spread with EMR services departing Norwich xx57 as now.
It seems George Freeman a newly appointed Transport Minister launched a twitter rant at GA after connection at Cambridge was missed this morning. Great Northern 0812 from King Cross to Ely was delayed and Greater Anglia 0909 to Norwich departed without him. Welcome to the world of privatised...
GWR are increasing the price of Sleeper packages by £10 which means for example a Solo berth at £135 will now be virtually same price as Super Off Peak Single + berth supplement price. If holding a railcard or making a return journey obviously it's a no brainer to use walk up tickets. The...
So it seems engineering work at St Erth in connection with moving the park and ride is taking place most of May including the very busy half term. <( So much for Andrew Haines saying the passenger must come first - I'm sure they will enjoy lugging luggage on a bus and off again at Lelant Saltings !
