How about a small fleet up North to work the TPE Newcastle - Edinburgh service. If I read things right, as things stand TPE 802's are not allowed to work under the wires all the way, but would 350's be allowed to?
This has also reminded my that back in the mid 90s when I worked in Leeds I used to get the 17:15 from Leeds to Horsforth which was 2 x DRS 37's T&T with MK2s. Great thrash even though it was only about 4 miles.
The S&C drags usually had to be double headed with a 47 because some locos such as the 56 did not have ETH. Also helped in the event of a loco failure. I went on a 56/47 run and it was impressive on the run up to Ais Gill with 11 coaches rammed with bashers.
I bobbed over to Cas last week to see what was happening. Access hole knocked through the wall and some digging up on the platform. I note that the junction signal on the up line from Burton Salmon is East of the station. If trains were to start stopping in platform 2 once again, would this...
The Leeds to York stopper is a self enclosed service so would benefit from a 331/333 with better acceleration up the hills. The LNER Leeds - Aberdeen would also use the wires as you refer to.
170's are wasted on Leeds-Harrogate-York where the maximum line speed is 65 (I believe). Pairs of 150's would be the better option with 170's being put on faster routes.
Sorry if this has been raised previously, but are there any plans for electrifying Thornhill LNWR Jcn to Leeds via Wakefield to act as a fully electrified diversionary route, or will it just be assumed that bi-modes would work it as necessary?
I would allow a little bit more depending on the nature of your change. If for example you are coming in from Horsforth arriving on Platform 0 and are heading to Castleford from Platform 17, you may need to allow a few more minutes if needing to use the lifts.
Maybe the Nottingham-Leeds should be extended to York to avoid the need to use Platform 17. The 1Y04 this morning is due to arrive at 08:17 into Platform, 17. The 2T07 stopper to York is due to leave Platform 14 at 08:18. So it makes perfect sense to operate it as a through service through...
