What's the line on Network Rail staff travelling on trains whilst in uniform for work purposes?
Do NR pay for train tickets or do they get free travel?
I know some lines have been DOO for a while. But what lines have become DOO since privatisation?
Did some slam door lines become DOO after receiving new stock?
When I travel on the first/last train of the day it is never full and standing. Are there some services on the network which are? Generally I mean, and not due to delays etc.
Which depot of a TOC has the most staff employed.
How is this broken down between drivers, guards etc.
How does this compare against other depots of the same TOC. For example Wick may have 4 guards? Against many more at Glasgow Central?
Not sure if this is the right area for such a question.
Obviously drivers and guards have to learn a route before operating on it on their own. A new platform has opened at Reading station recently. (platform 4) Now, would all train crew have to learn this new platform first, or would they...
From their website...
Time restrictions on Off-Peak tickets
All time restrictions which normally apply to Off-Peak, Off-Peak Day, Super Off-Peak, Ranger and Rover tickets are lifted from 24 December 2011 to 2 January 2012 inclusive, so you may travel at any time of day with cheaper tickets...
Leaving very shortly is the 2040 Blackpool North to Leeds service. Due into Leeds at 01.03. (I know the journey planner wouldn't suggest that service)
Have there been longer rail replacement services. I'm sure I've heard of Preston to Glasgow Central before.
It could be in terms of time or...
Just flicking through the timetable to Southern Vectis (Isle Of Wight) and next to timetable 6. (Newport to Ventor via Blackgang Chine) It says 'some buses on route 6 are driven by volunteers'. This is under their 'Community Bus Partnership'. I can only presume this is down to low passenger...
What's the longest scheduled walk that is a permitted route. Farnborough North to Farnborough Main seems a fair trek, maybe at nearly a mile? (I've done it enough times!) is there longer out there?
A few routes at the moment run 24 hours a day, can anyone think how this may change in 10 years time?
Will the demand/route availability extend to somewhere like Oxford to Reading or London to Birmingham?
Likewise could demand fall for London to Reading?
Just a general question really, do most train depots have their own car parks for train crew? If so do they charge, are there enough spaces etc. If not, do train crew just use a public car park/road parking.
Any examples?
Just scanning the live arrivals boards for Reading and I saw the following. The 19.09 London Waterloo to Reading was delayed en route and was made non stop from Ascot to Reading. It left Ascot 20 minutes late and arrived into Reading at 20.45, which was 2 minutes early. Surely this comes under...
Here's a question,
The 16.23 FGW from Oxford to Banbury leaves from Platform 3. (bay platform) The 16.26 Chiltern Railways from Oxford to Bicester Town leaves from the same platform. Effectively blocked by the FGW service.
If for some reason the 16.23 to Banbury was cancelled due to 'no...
I've gone to Southampton Central today and was wondering what the options were for routes on the way back. (My mobile doesn't seem to like the routing guide)
From what I can get the National Rail Planner to show it's;
Via Reading and Basingstoke
Via Guildford and Woking
Via Guildford and...
I am currently on the 21.15 Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston. Due to issues in the Nuneaton area the train is running 60 minutes late, although this may be reduced by the time it gets to London Euston. I have an advance ticket to Reading, if I miss the last tube do Virgin have to provide...
I'm just trying to find out which TOC's have power points in standard class.
Virgin (Pendolino) - table seats, and only the ones next to a window
FGW (HST) - every row of seats (in the middle)
CrossCountry/Virgin (Voyager) - every row (next to the window)
East Coast (HST/91) - every row...
Currently on the 2048 Liverpool Lime Street to London Euston and the set is in reverse formation. Not being an expert in routing, where would the set have had the opportunity to reverse itself?
... just passed said service at Crewe at 07.25 (due in Euston at 07.47) currently expected to arrive at 09.27.
It left on time, anyone know what caused the delay?
Bit of a strange question.
I believe TRUST can hold information on why a train has been delayed. Can it be so far fetching that a delay on a St Erth to St Ives service somehow manages to delay something like the Glasgow Central to Ayr service? This being caused by a knock on effect.
What's...
I will be taking the first train (05.27) out of London Euston to Liverpool Lime Street in a few days time. Does anyone know what, if anything is open at that time. e.g. Upper Crust? Tried to check online but to no avail.
