Groupsave when the Group Splits Up

Would it not be a lot easier to staff and passengers if one ticket was printed?

Passengers complaining about no seats available on busiest trains

When checking tickets on peak trains leaving London, I will quite often start at the front of the train and work back. Two reasons - it's less crowded at the front, and secondly, if anyone towards the back says there's no seats and they have to stand, I can point them towards the front of the train.

    Reading/Wokingham to Farnborough

I've just been looking at the fares/maps for Reading/Wokingham to Farnborough Reading to Farnborough uses map MW which covers the direct line through Wokingham, Blackwater etc. An off-peak single is £5.50. However, National Rail Enquiries (NRE) offers the route via Basingstoke at the same...

Routeing Guide And Non Railway Points

I can't find West Cowes in the routeing guide, would I be right in thinking in that case I should use the first railway station? In this case it would be Southampton Central. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- I know it's bad form to reply to your own post, but I've just realised...

Least Delay When Stops Are Missed Out

Just passed through Reading and heard the 16.48 to Bedwyn would be missing out Theale, Aldermaston and Thatcham. It was on the board as running 9 minutes late. (For reasons unknown it actually left 19 minutes late) My question is, what's the least delay you've known of, when stops have been...

    Passengers Buying Split Tickets

Is it just me, or is split ticketing a very confusing area, especially if its not trying to save money. Example. Passenger buys a day return from Weybridge to London Waterloo. Said passenger then decides to go to Woking instead of Weybridge in the evening. Passenger thinks, ah I'll buy a...

    GB Railfreight

This is probably a really silly question, but how did you manage that?

    Dispatch At London Bridge

Yesterday I was at London Bridge heading towards Charing Cross and observed train dispatch there. The services all seemed to be DOO, and next to the signal was 'CD' (Close Doors) and 'RA' (Right Away). There were at least three dispatchers on the platform, and I got the feeling that they were...

    Best and Worst barriered Stations

I think it was at Oxted that has a remote gateline. My Southern day rover didn't work. As it was a kind lady gave me her ticket to get through (she was already through) Had the train been coming I would have no hesitation in pushing the red plunger.

Buses replace trains - Watford Junction and St Albans Abbey until end of service

From the National Rail Enquiries Website, http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/sa428f706de442ee9cc6451e7d96d74b/details.html Is there an overtime ban at the moment, or is this likely to be last minute sickness?

    High Speed Upgrade Ticket

Thanks for all your responses. So, really I should have been advised at the ticket office my ticket was valid? Not worth saying anything for £1.35 though.

    High Speed Upgrade Ticket

I went to the ticket machine first at Ramsgate to have a look at the options (I know I was looking at the route in reverse on the machine) There were two options, London Not Und and HS1. Roughly the first was £40 and the latter £60. £20 difference, £5 with PRIV, one way excess £2.50. Or...

    High Speed Upgrade Ticket

I'm not convinced I've been sold the right ticket. I have a Clapham Junction to Ramsgate PRIV priced at £9.90. With the route London Not Und. I went to the ticket office at Ramsgate and asked him to excess the return so I could use it on High Speed. I expected it to cost £2.50ish...

Wokingham - Zone 1-6 Travelcard via Frimley

I need a travelcard from Wokingham, but need to stop at Frimley on the way there. The plan was to go Wokingham - Ascot - Frimley - Ash Vale - London Waterloo I didn't think the routing would allow it, however I have checked what maps can be used. It includes WW which is the route between...

Fading Ink on season tickets and Railcards

As a guard I seem to come across this on a daily basis. Thing is what can staff do if they can't make it out? Sell a new ticket?

Guildford - North Camp via Ash Vale?

Is Guildford to North Camp via Ash Vale allowed (I.e. walking between Ash Vale and North Camp) I suspect not as the fare is more for a Guildford to Ash Vale ticket.

    Ejecting Passengers From A Train

Ah, but your talking about the emotional state of someone. If said child was walking down the road being abusive I wouldn't stop. Likewise, said child walking in the bookshop swearing, it would be a case of 'get out'. If said child was in tears on your train, then I'm sure most staff would...

East Coast apologises for "heavy-handed" treatment of passenger

Likewise, I will stand there waiting (until I'm board) then say I'll come back later on (obviously checking there not getting off at the next stop) And if someone does buy a new ticket, then of course I'll refund it should they find the original.
