Living where I do it has to be Didcot to Oxford, and as others said the Chiltern line.
Transpennine must remove a few diesels, subject to some service rejigging.
Unfair (even potentially discriminatory) to charge a fee when ToD may be the only option the customer can use.
For that reason if a fee comes up I cancel and go to another operator, or use the ticket office.
So with railcard discount applied the Super Off Peak Day Return is £13.75 and Off Peak is £16.50.
Therefore, the excess would be £2.75.
Being made to pay a further £13.00 means in total you even ended up paying more than the Anytime Day Return (£22.75). (Not that anyone would need a Network...
With the greatest respect to the op, Avoid Trainline like the plague.
Their style of inaccurate marketing over the years has duped so many uninformed people into thinking that they are cheaper, which they are not, then when things go wrong they encounter further problems getting something back...
Sounds like a mountain out of a molehill here. Just buy a single from Carmarthen to Pembrey &Burry Port. Its £19 for two people.
We used to have a worse one at Reading where since the IET timetable launched there was a West of England train (first stop Taunton) at 0929. This is now thankfully 0930
So the general consensus seems to be for a seven car bi-mode (OHLE/diesel) IET derivative.
Assuming standard 26m bodies as used on most builds so far, we can call this a class 802/7, or if it uses the shorter (MML style) 24m bodies then it can be a class 810/7.
Doesnt even need a new class, just...
Found one last week I thought was unusual.
2E14 1704 Didcot to Moreton-in-Marsh arrives at 1810 then does 5E16 ecs to Evesham before working 2E16 at 1851 from there back to Oxford. Seems odd 2E14 doesn’t run in service through to Evesham.
Thank you all for your comments and discussion on this. Will give it a go with my next rover or ranger, but probably when I start the journey as opposed to when I get there!
Hi all
Is is possible to buy a PlusBus addon when using a Day Ranger ticket?
Going to Bristol using a Heart if Wessex Day Ranger and looking at bus travel in Bristol
Remembering as well that wiring to Oxford will also release two Turbos from the Didcot shuttle, so thats a dozen from those projects.
Without bordering too far onto the Speculative ideas section, you can add Henley to this which would release another one!
The morning trip certainly makes sense, but for the evening run its unlikely to get to Cleethorpes and back within the 2h23 between 1B88 arriving and 1B91 returning to London at 2025, based on existing timings taking around 1h10 each way, plus layover, and the Azuma probably wont be going much...
Finally ticked off Reading Low Level on a trip to Guildford last Friday. One of the few plusses of a strike day timetable as the 0918 was fresh from the depot
Sometimes, it does make sense to join up two separate services which meet at a common station and use similar stock.
Central Trains (RIP) was the master of this, and we saw many a regional service strung together with another to make a through train. Some of these worked, others caused more...
Its the most appropriate service for those travelling to, from or via parts of Central London which are not served by Thameslink, and but it’s important that the operator does not get too hung up on it providing this function on a service which is there as the prime facility to places further North.
Yet another issue created by TfL operating this National Rail service, and over-branding in such a way that customer perception is being made to think its a separate operation.
For the journeys described, just buy a ticket (anytime/off peak variant of single/return/travelcard etc) as normal (ie...
Was delighted to see a rack full of XC timetables at Reading the other day.
Very useful for planning trips with multiple legs and assessing options, you can have half a dozen timetables spread out on the kitchen table ad work it all out very easily. Much better than "journey planners" which...
In Birmingham for the weekend, so in theory the line is open again from Sunday, but booked to return via Cheltenham "just in case"
Also means bagging an HST ride so worth the detour!
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
