Be great to see more promotion of Rovers and Rangers, as they are excellent value and a useful tool for the industry to draw leisure traffic in away from other modes.
Some TOCs have in the past produced useful leaflets describing their rangers (Northern's was more of a booklet once they had...
Excellent news! I always buy a travelcard when going up to London as its so straightforward and good value.
I had started to pen a proposal for a NR only Day Ranger replacement but wont need to do that now either!
Great to see this has come to fruition, and if it sells well they will have proven their point. Railtours do not need to all be a rake of Mk1s with a 1960s diesel on the front.
Disappointed by all of the Pacer bashing, if its not for you then dont go on it. Pacers are an important part of our...
This seems to be the main difference to previous proposals (Airtrack etc) for which the regular issue was those crossings, so a tunnel here would get round those, but removes Egham from the plan (cant have cake and eat it)
Although the tunnel is only about a mile and a half, it will need to go...
From what I have read on here and other forums, it doesn't appear to be that much work involved in dividing a 150/1 to put another coach in the middle.
This will only get worse when the Mayor abolishes travelcards, as every passenger, will then need to look for the validators whereas at the moment those with paper travelcards (typically from outside of the TfL area and possibly not familiar with tapping in and out) presently need do nothing.
Think that decoupling it from the Cheltenham service could probably help, so that delays at each end are more contained and not imported to the other.
Cheltenham <-> Swansea and Maesteg <-> Ebbw Vale may be a better combination
Lots of suggestions will come up here, some credible, some far less so. Fleet size and train length could make them attractive to the Welsh Marches, or some of the Inter7City services in Scotland, but as others have said this could easily turn into a solution looking for a problem.
Although I have mainly used them at off peak times, I have always found the 377s (all sub-classes) perfectly fine for the work that they do. The interiors vary and its reasonably clear that the three and five car seem to have relatively consistent work but without studying the operations its...
Interesting proposals, the standardisation of the timetable will no doubt help with crew and stock diagramming, and also with all trains along each route going the same place should make understanding the timetable easier, even if it means that more passengers will have to change trains than do...
There were hopes in some circles that 541, as the last EMU to be built at York works, may have been saved. Probably armchair wibble, as opposed to anyone actually getting anything together. Dont recall anything actually happening. Assume the ROSCO and Booths were aware and so bought a bit of...
This actually sounds quite logical. If any one of the crossings was closed then Lynn gates is probably the most appropriate, as the quietest, although this would make the busiest crossing (Peterborough gates) busier, but careful diagramming could enable more trains to pass there, so reducing...
Another bad outcome. Would happily pay a (little) bit more for the Travelcard if it meant that it could stay.
Just £1 on each one would seemingly raise £10m per annum, if that's what the issue is.
Even if TfL wont accept them any more, continued acceptance on NR services would be beneficial...
This does at least suggest that there are sufficient HST trailers with SSL couplings, to enable the trip to take place.
Any luck some of these vehicles may go on to be saved to enable tours in preservation (the Blue Pullman ones clearly must be but is it known how many others are?)
Personally would rather see the gates ripped out and more on train checking.
Better for flows of people in and around the stations and a better chance of catching the doughnutters for a start.
The apps on the type of phone you assume I have
Only seen this on LNER, then for their own services only, then you take pot luck what seats you get.
Spend £££ on an ALR to see the views then get auto-reserved next to the door pocket on an IET- what a lovely holiday!
Once you can blag your way...
I buy my railcards when I first need to travel with them, so yes I do need the ability to buy for immediate travel.
You assume that I have a smartphone, but then go on to say that only one type of Railcard (which is not one of those that I buy, I have three) can be bought in that way in any...
So thinking about all of the products and services I have purchased from a station ticket office over the last decade, many of these are not available at a TVM, or in advance from a Train operator's website.
Some may be regarded as niche, but regardless of that we still need to have a means of...
