    European Sleeper experience

Me neither. I welcome the innovation and the aspiration, but they have been fairly lamentable for an extended period. They are very much a bargain basement operation (without the bargain basement prices). Quite a few people have opined that "Nightjet are just as bad". That's no defence at all...

Signalling(?) cable theft (again) between Grantham and Newark Northgate

I knew about cars and bikes, but cabling ? Transport costs must be considerable. I assume someone somewhere is being paid to look the other way

Signalling(?) cable theft (again) between Grantham and Newark Northgate

The issue here - like with all stolen goods - is that, if there is a market for it, then people will steal. So the best solution would best seem to be to go after the receivers of stolen goods. People won't steal when there's nowhere to sell it.

My main concern is that they are expanding when they have not got the core product working yet.

Bedford (Elstow) collision reporting by Daily Express: is this accurate or misleading?

Every source has a bias - but I would trust Wikipedia over the Daily Express

    Unannounced platform change

I've long since given up complaining to TOCs about issues like this. They will justify it, even if it is completely unreasonable from a passenger perspective. Long gone are the days where a TOC will do anything other than (equivocally) "apologise for the inconvience caused"

Bedford (Elstow) collision reporting by Daily Express: is this accurate or misleading?

There has to be a scapegoat - preferably not senior management. Was this the accident that was caused in part by glare on one of the signals making it impossible to read ?

Bedford (Elstow) collision reporting by Daily Express: is this accurate or misleading?

I suspect that the Daily Express are desperate to hang this on the public sector in general, Keir Starmer in particular, and "lazy, overpaid" railways staff. They will inevitably be seeking the Transport Minister's head on a platter and an immediate general election. To be honest, I would have...

"You can cancel your booking and receive your money back" Or not, as it seems, unless you threaten them with legal action 1782244975 The "We'd go bust if we had to compensate every one for every train cancellation" regulations they just made up on the spot. It may be hidden in their Ts and Cs

Often railway companies foreswear "consequential loss" and so presume fare refunds are appropriate.

Trustpilot - Best & Worst TOC Reviews

I do - as stated above - look for common, ordinary themes on Trustpilot. There was an overseas bank account I was considering (Blackcatcard), and the numerous reviews on Trustpilot alleged fraudulent use of details, money becoming "trapped" and interminable delays in withdrawals and...

Trustpilot - Best & Worst TOC Reviews

I believe the toilets issue dates from when they were ordered by Virgin and the latter were too tight to order the correct machinery to empty the waste tanks, and it's not been substantively addressed since then.

Trustpilot - Best & Worst TOC Reviews

It's a bit like Tripadvisor reviews for hotels - you need to sort the wheat from the chaff, and the people who complain about the lack of a chocolate on the pillow and rose petals on the sheets of hotel bed, versus consistent complaints at a location about noise, room cleaning and breakfast...

"They then said they would send the British Transport Police which was a bit frustrating to be honest because it shouldn't really matter where you are and what's happening, they should just send the nearest police car." Then...nothing. I assume there wasn't an available BTP Car/Officer in the...

    [NL] OV-Pas roll out

So my Bunq card (all 3 of whose IBANs start with NL) should work ? Germany is terrible for IBAN discrimination as well.

    [NL] OV-Pas roll out

Does the bank account you can refill it need to be Dutch? Bizarrely, I do have a Euro-denominated Dutch bank account (Bunq) from the short period they offered these in the UK.

    Interrail trip to Germany

I wish I could say I was surprised, but I'm not. Every time I see someone talking about "efficient German railways", I counter "I take it you've not visited recently..."
