I do wish they'd open a couple of barriers to the main concourse on the right of the "forecourt" - you have to leave the station walk across the front and go back in onto the main concourse from outside. Every second counts
As I recall - this was pre-Pendolino, it was a substantial proportion of the train maintenance staff - I'll see if I can find the Guardian article. This was prior to the Department taking a more hands on role in managing the franchise.

I think you misunderstood - or more likely that...
Ha, you're lucky to get a room in the hotel if you arrive late and not be told that the hotel is full and you will need to make your way to an alternative 20 miles away.
I see much social media enraged when trains are cancelled due to staff shortages and the Great British public blame...the train drivers. "How DARE they take leave - they are paid [insert vastly inflated figure here] - it's just pressing a button, isn't it? Bully boy trade unions, isn't it ...

Absolutely nothing. Avanti are phoning it in
No, annual leave is booked months in advance to suit rotas. The problem is that many TOCs rely on rest day working/overtime to cover annual leave, rather than recruiting sufficient drivers to do so

Which made zero difference to the overall fare at all, but they were fined by the...
Years ago, a friend of mine went for a job with a county council where the main function was to audit those undertaking contract work for them and suss out whether they were claiming for mileage they didn't run. This was often intelligence-led, and based on the fact that records for buses run...
I've done Croatia to Serbia a few times, but I believe this is no longer possible - there are trains to Tovarnik in Croatia and trains from Sid in Serbia - nothing for the seven kilometres between
I found this on Tripadvisor
"We went by train from Belgrade to Sid. At Sid there was no public...
What's morally correct and what's legal are at odds here. If the service had been contracted, and not run, then the company would I presume have been fined and/or had the money that was due to them for running the service deducted. Or both. But a commercial service, on one occasion ? I doubt any...

I have other accounts like Wise (that give you a Belgian, Turkish, and Hungarian IBAN) but the card has a UK registered number.
Revolut gives you a Polish IBAN if you have a zloty account with them, but again, the card has a UK registered number.
I had an account with Bankera - a...
