EMR Class 222’s - declining reliability

The 222s aren't exactly in great health at the moment either, I was beginning to wonder if there was much between the two....

How long should it take to clear up after an accident?

Years ago in an accident like this the stock involved would be mostly knackered and unable to be used again. You might try and salvage the locos, but the rest could be happily broken up on site, maybe even burnt. Not there's a good chance most, perhaps all, will be reusable, so you want to...

Report of collision Bedford (Elstow) - 19/06/26

I'm already envisioning a clamour for TPWS on all signals, which could be frightfully expensive.

Report of collision Bedford (Elstow) - 19/06/26

From what I've read, and going off public images it looks like the 810 was stood at the signal, potentially pushed beyond it my the impact, so not just beyond the preceding signal

EMR Class 222’s - declining reliability

Nah, most of that looks like overtime at stations.

Will the 810 involved in the Bedford crash be repaired or partly replaced?

Probably far too early to speculate at this point, but the LNER unit that was in a collision at Neville Hill was back in service quickly. Obviously 015's collision involves greater forces but solely going off the public images it looks to have stood up well, what looks bad is where it's meant to...

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

Yes, door issues are multiple, both in sets affected, location on sets, and causes. Some, like 006's issue causing the cancellation, fall into the 'you couldn't make it up' category.

Report of Partial Bridge Collapse WCML 11/6

They usually are mounted on the abutments, A5 Watling Street at Hinckley, a common strike location, has huge ones mounted on extended abutments, but you still need to check things if there's a strike. The problems comes where you've an arched bridge and no abutments to begin with.

If you're bracing it againt the bridge you'll be in exactly the same position as now.

It's all blocked from Bradley Jn to Dewsbury East Jn so must be something pretty major.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

I find it slightly amusing that the next section of the Leeds bound platform still isn't as wide as the widest part of the existing platform, leaving a pretty useless space between it and the former goods shed, now Angloco. The original gap was left by the removal of the old Birstall branch &...

Report of Partial Bridge Collapse WCML 11/6

That's it really, they're an expensive 'solution' even when viable, and create, unless you spend a humongous sum, a real hazard of it falling when struck, much greater than that of the bridge itself. Not really a win if your bridge is safe but your sacrificial beam's fallen on a minibus full of...

Report of Partial Bridge Collapse WCML 11/6

At a guess I'd say the driver wedged it, and tried to reverse out, but by then the arm's taken some weight and is lifted slightly or already cracked, reversing's just moved the concrete off it's footings and it's come crashing down as a result. Driver's then cacked themself and driven off with...
