Class 810 - The Right Fit For EMR?

I suspect they could, potentially with modification, although others have said Hitachi don't really do carriage orders, just set orders, and unless you lengthen St Pancras making them any longer creates a whole host of problems only really solvable by cutting service levels, which is kinda...

Easy-to-miss MML cancellations on Tue 7 July?

That they have to be small to fit into the tight loading gauge is a big thing, then there's the fact that much air-con in the UK isn't really specced for the temperatures we're now regularly getting. The 158s have always have the additional problem that the air-con was designed to work with...

Easy-to-miss MML cancellations on Tue 7 July?

That didn't happen until nearly 0600, most of the cancellations were planned before that. Intercity availability has reach epically bad proportions, and it seems now EMR are trying to go down the quiet P coding route where they think they can. It wasn't popular when TPE tried it and it go them...

    Leeds station improvement updates

Once upon a time there were plans for a flyover there, for the GN lives to come over the top of the Midlands. I'd have thought it'd be less of a priority than a few years ago with less freight traffic over Whitehall Jn now.

EMR Class 222’s - declining reliability

Another one with buggered cab HVAC. Even on a relatively cool evening there's enough equipment in a confined space to make things very uncomfortable.

Which classes have worked a MK4 set in passenger service (aside from 89/90/91)?

I certainly remember both on booked drags via Hambleton to and from Leeds, via Lincoln too in the case of 67s.

    Another thread about TOPS...

Tell me about it. Did the 'rot' set in in the early 90s with 158/159 (a 159 essentially being a 158 with a retention tank, so really should all 158s now be 159s?) and some of the Networker types, though given the number of engine types some classes have had, making the 48s a separate class and...

Heatwave 22-27 June - effect on the UK Railway

It’s off my area but I was told by a colleague who deals with the Eastern side that cancellations due to faults, often air-con have been perhaps the worst they’ve been today.

Heatwave 22-27 June - effect on the UK Railway

I mean, go far enough back and it needed hammering home like mad with 'Is Your Journey Really Necessary' messages, which are thought to have only had limited success, and that was when there was a war on! 1782479482 Yeah, badly sagging overheads.
