Those trains are really very wide at floor height - room for effectively 3+3 seating and a wide-ish aisle. There are also whole sections set up to convey 20+ bikes and their riders, with fold-down seats and high racks.

Not much to be in Leamington for at 7am on a Saturday. Even if you work in a shop there you won’t need to be in that early in most cases. Also worth bearing in mind that connections to Chiltern services aren’t good at Leamington for passengers from Kenilworth.

The 153 did a fine job. Worked, was clean, decent seats, some tables, loo. A 172 when it comes will mean trading tables for capacity, acceleration, quicker boarding and air conditioning. But I’ve been on far less comfortable trains than the 153 as a London commuter, frankly.
