Are HST's working one of the Bristol-Weymouth morning service and the return evening service on Summer Saturdays this year? If so what times are they running? It's not mentioned on the frequently requested diagrams thread.
I read a posting on here recently with a link to an official GWR document detailing GWR's upcoming service improvements and changes over the coming year or so. I can't seem to find that posting and document now. But interestingly it did mention that from May 2017 some GWR Turbo's will be...
So even though electrification of the Bristol-London line is running about 4 years behind schedule, will the new faster Bristol-London services still be introduced next year, which will include 4 trains per hour between Bristol Temple Meads and London?
Something I've noticed over the last couple of years whilst making some journeys on National Express coaches, is that there is often live drivers eye view footage of the journey showing on the TV's at the front of the coach for passengers to watch. There usually is on the service 040's between...
I was coming back from Amsterdam the other day on the Megabus. When I noticed a Megabus service ME05 driving off the ferry. Where does this service operate to/from? Most likely London is the terminating point in the UK, but where does it run to on the continent?
There's the ME02...
I notice on some train services during the announements it says "If you see anything suspicious, please report it to a train manager or a police officer.". Are there actually police officers on these trains, and if so so where are they located? Because the announcer doesn't say in which...
I was surprised on Tuesday evening at 8pm that BBC4 transmitted a 2 hour long canal ride on their channel. Just purely a canal ride with no commentary!
A two-hour, real-time canal boat journey down one of Britain's most historic waterways, the Kennet and Avon Canal, from Top Lock in Bath to...
I made a return journey on this yesterday afternoon, making use of a free return ticket I had. From my observations the service doesn't exactly seem to be doing a roaring trade! On the outbound journey there was only one other passenger! And on the homeward journey I was the ONLY...
I used to use EastCoast which was good, as for £255 spent on train tickets you could use your Rewards points to claim a single ticket for a long distance train journey such as London-Edinburgh. The replacement Virgin Trains EastCoast is nowhere near as good. Spend £250 and it's only worth just...
Good programme on now on BBC4. The Modern Age of Coach Travel. Probably not as good and interesting as The Golden Age of Coach Travel which was shown a few years ago, but should be a good programme to watch for anyone interested in coach travel.
I had a look at journeys between Bristol & London on the late May Bank Holiday Monday(25th May), and was surprised to see there are very highly priced peak time fares on this day. Why is this when it's a Bank Holiday Monday?
Looking forward to this! A good chance to ride classic old buses in Bristol for a day.
Let's hope though that unlike the 2012 and 2014 events, this one isn't also CANCELLED! Last years event was cancelled due to Bristol City Council doing essential roadworks in the area, and 2012's event...
I have noticed today on the live departures boards that there are some bizarre Cheltenham Spa-Cheltenham Spa circular services running today. Journey times about 32/33 minutes. Calling at Cheltenham Spa only! What an earth is the point of these services? Or is this some error on the live...
It is surprising that we've not had any TV series about coach services operations yet. We've had various programmes over the years about the London Underground(The Tube, versions made by both ITV and the BBC), buses(currently On The Yorkshire Buses on C5 and there was a series about London...
..... on Channel 5. New 8 part series about the operations of East Yorkshire Motor Services. http://about.channel5.com/node/1840
Will look forward to this. As I've missed there being these sorts of shows about public transport the past several months, since that East Coast series on Sky 1...
I'm thinking about doing a return trip from Bristol-Oxford by bus one day during the Summer. Get a 37 or an X39 to Bath, a 231 to Chippenham, a 55 to Swindon, and the 66 to Oxford. Particularly appealing is the journeys between Chippenham and Oxford which will be on the lovely Enviro 400's...
A seperate thread to discuss the 70 for those who wish to do so. Away from the members who do not wish to read anymore about the 70!
Since the change to Hengrove Depot operation, a few different single deckers are being used on the 70. Which is interesting. Seen a Volvo B6 BLE on there...
I have noticed that on this day the journey times are extended a little between Cheltenham and Birmingham. With journey times of about an hour rather than the usual 40 minutes. Are these services taking the slight diverted route towards Worcester and then back to rejoin the usual route? Or...
I thought I'd start this thread to talk about bus services in Bristol back in the old days before First Bristol took over. Rather than post about it in the First South West & Wales thread! Some people may be able to share facts about those days, and some people who weren't around then may be...
