Cheltenham Spa-Cheltenham Spa circular service??!!

I have noticed today on the live departures boards that there are some bizarre Cheltenham Spa-Cheltenham Spa circular services running today. Journey times about 32/33 minutes. Calling at Cheltenham Spa only! What an earth is the point of these services? Or is this some error on the live departures boards?

Most likely an error...the services seem to be empty stock movements.

They are normal run of the mill ECS working when a train from the south has to run to Alston Sdg and back to return southbound from the other platform.
Perhaps they have been shewn on Live Departures due to a glitch.

There are some of those at BHM (thats Birmingham New Street) which go on a circular tour before forming their next working.

Yes, many ECS moves seem to have been made public on the departure boards for some very odd reason, while many of the others are not.

So do the Swindons and Maestegs.

I think thats intentional on some boards (possibly the ones on the end of the platforms?) to help staff...

Manchester Piccadilly does this too, usually with Pendolinos going back to Longsight after having worked a service up from Euston.
