Backtracking slightly, those who mentioned the 'Glasgow Trains' proposed Glasgow-Leeds service; is this not the one that in fact continues down to Nottingham? The other route being Glasgow-Liverpool via Preston...or is it a third route they proposed?

Well at some point Liverpool was adorned with more trains (or more varied services) than it currently is, so the network clearly made it possible for some time. It is because of an increase in XYZ-Piccadilly services that continuing onto Liverpool is improbable?
