334s on the Cathcart lines, 314s on Inverclyde line; what's going on?!

Lately there seems to be occurances of 334s on the Cathcart, Newton and Neilston lines becoming more popular. Consequently, 314s on the Gourock/Wemyss Bay lines are now becoming very popular, not just in the evenings now but through the day as well! Two or more years ago, it seemed to me...

    Your perfect train fleet

Along with what I previously mentioned I am going to have to add in a 320 set, a 321 and a 322. Those things are immense, particularly the earbusting buzz in the centre car at the opposite end from the pantograph!

    What irritates you?

The people walking slowly thing gets to me too. Particularly when groups of people scale the whole pavement in a line and know you're there but don't move so you either have to move onto the road or just squeeze past them.

    Departing on full power?

I was on a train today and despite the tracks being wet the driver still kept slamming it into notch3/4 (EMU), there was slippage and you could hear a) the wheelspin and b) the WSP cutting in; made for excellent filming though!

'Tony Blair could become the first ever President of Europe'

Margaret Thatcher had all of the right ideals, she just didnt go about them quite as delicately as she could have. She was way ahead of her time and wanted gay people to be treated as equals, if i recall correctly, among other things. The things on politicians' agenda these days seem to be the...

    Southern 313s and 508s

Well, in all fairness, the vast majority of what I will say about trains is speculation and from what I have read about Wikipedia. I constantly like to learn and can just sit for hours trawling random facts on the Internet or in books, or, from people. What I have said in the PC/Linux thread is...

    Linux Ubuntu

:/ dude. I work for an IT firm, and we manage quite a number of clients. NONE use Linux. Not a breath of Linux anywhere. It's pure Windows out where we are, and for a lot of the frontend business world. Sure, some of the backend in large firms is done in *nix type systems, but that's about it...

    Southern 313s and 508s

I read it on Wikipedia. I know it's not exactly the most valuable source but personally I think it makes sense to govern trains. I also think that passenger cars should be governed at 70MPH though so... yeah. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- I wouldn't be surprised if ALL trains...

Yep, I have also heard that some trains have governers.

    Linux Ubuntu

Open Office is horrible, in my opinion. As for your Win95 uptime of 6/7 years, you should take a screenshot and upload it somewhere, you never know, you may even be holding a world record there.

'Tony Blair could become the first ever President of Europe'

Well he was a damn sight better of a PM than Brown is, or at least so it seems that way. I'm hardly a Blairite but he wasn't all that bad... bring back Thatcher I say bring back Thatcher!

    Southern 313s and 508s

Were these actually drivers or people on the Internet that claim to be drivers and in reality don't have a clue what they're talking about? Can you also cite these sources? Odd, considering linespeeds in the UK have a maximum of 125 and any driver caught doing even a fraction over that would...

    Southern 313s and 508s

I think you might be pleasantly surprised actually how fast the train was going. Older trains like the 313s and her family feel a LOT faster than they actually are because they don't shut out half as much noise and vibration as newer trains do. Newer trains or intercity trains you often feel...

    Southern 313s and 508s

313s, 314s, 315s, 507s and 508s have a maximum official speed of 75MPH. I've been in a 314 doing around that and I wouldn't want to be in one going any faster; the doors rattle, it makes a hell of a noise, rocks a little and generally feels like it doesn't want to go any faster. 317s, 318s, 319s...

    Southern 313s and 508s

^Same for Glasgow 314s, they were allegedly getting scrapped this year, now they're being kept on another 6 or so years! Why anyone would want to get rid of these babies is an idea I can't fathom
