The 'Most pointless railway paraphernalia you can photograph' thread

You'll get used to it Geezertronic... Old timer, me123, thanks for your explanations. I guess it's not so pointless afterall, but it does still look kind of funny sitting there.I know one thing for sure; I can always be certain what aspect it will be showing!

    What irritates you?

Lol, wow. You guys really have it in for buses but then again after what has been said I can't blame you! I've even been on London buses and thought they were superb!

If you could have a different accent?

The same can be said for nearly everything then; southern American and Northern American for instance (and in my ignorance, there are probably many more variables of the American accent, but that doesn't stop people saying 'American accent' etc.) I know an Englishman when I hear one, a...

I would ask you to explain; but look how well that went down in the Linux thread... talking nonsense again I see. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- they.go.the.other.way.on.that.platform.

Platform four the trains go the other way. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- If this were actually the case then surely enough it would be logical to install at least a dual aspect signal and simply keep it at a danger aspect rather than installing a single aspect lamp that will...

If left burning constantly incandescent lightbulbs can last phenominal amounts of time; for instance the centennial lightbulb which has been going for over 100 years. I reckon it will be a good while yet before that baby burns out.

If you could have a different accent?

Eh? You are aware that Scotland and England are two different countries and that we do have our own ways of speaking, right? Away an' boil yer heed!

The 'Most pointless railway paraphernalia you can photograph' thread

Lol knowing us probably. There's plenty of stations here which have old disused platforms for instance gathering moss such as the old terminus stop at Corkerhill; no one up here starts a job and finishes it!

The 'Most pointless railway paraphernalia you can photograph' thread

Thats a good point... but if they were going to put up a buffer stop and make platform 5 qa terminus, you'd think they'd do the job properly and remove the signal!

The 'Most pointless railway paraphernalia you can photograph' thread

I'll start it off; this shot, of a single aspect signal at Dalmuir (YY 599), always displaying a danger aspect, at the Terminus of platform 5, as if to say 'stop here'... ...What exactly is the train going to do, try and crash through the buffer stop?! That signal has to be utterly pointless...

    What are you listening to?

The music from GTA:VC is very good too, right up my street. Right now: Raoul and the Kings of Spain - Tears for Fears.

    What irritates you?

You've been going on the wrong buses. And last time I checked; it's trains that get p*ssed on/in, not buses. Our 314s have no loo and when they're run on the Gourock/Wemyss Bay runs late in the evenings that's just asking for trouble... because people around here will just stand there and take a...

    If you won the lotto?

Invest and get rich. Oh, and I'd buy a class 314 whenever they are ready to get chucked in the skip.

334s on the Cathcart lines, 314s on Inverclyde line; what's going on?!

Earlier this year I saw a Juniper at Williamwood and on Saturday I saw one three times on those routes and even boarded it, and I am pretty sure it was three different units.

    Least favorite class of loco?

^I agree, but maybe it's because they are becoming increasingly rarer. I saw one yesterday for my first time and quite liked it, but it doesn't seem much more special than any other loco but then again as I said I don't really have much interest in locos, I am more of a unit fan.
  19. J

    Least favorite class of loco?

None; I don't give locos enough thought nor do they interest me enough really to bother thinking about it. If you asked me this question about a multiple unit though... oh boy could I go on. As for the ones you don't like, all the reasons sound superficial; they have revolutionised our railways.
