I thought I would start a thread on this topic because I would like to see if there are still people around that remember it. I am attaching a photograph of the wiring train doing its stuff 3.9 miles north of Preston at the now removed crossover that then continued onto the Barton and Broughton...

I have always set goals and when I lived in the USA I had the goal of flying in and out of the Top 100 US airports by passenger numbers. I appreciate it changes slightly each year but I kept up with those changes. I also had the goal of flying in and out of all 50 states which I also achieved...
Most trains are cancelled or heavily delayed in the Preston area ( as of March 18 2026 at 07.00). I personally witnessed Platforms clogged with trains going nowhere but did not take a picture. Rail replacement busses are nowhere to be seen.
I have attached two pictures. First one is of an...

Of the railway authors, who is your favourite and why? My personal one is Roger Ford. I have read every Informed Sources since inception. He is very knowledgeable.
Ian Walmsley is funny.
I have just read an article online in the Lancashire Evening Post. I will try and post a link shortly. (see post 5) Basically it is saying the signs in and outside and around the station are very confusing and even misleading and they are all going to be removed and well over100 new ones put up...
Just got an email from Network Rail stating that major work with lights and noise will happen in my area December 24th -27th involving replacing the contact wire and catenary. So basically Preston to Catterall area. I will also post photos during the work if possible.
Not too sure if this is worthy of its own thread (MODS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO MERGE/DELETE etc) but I have received this from NR. 4 months of work on the stretch of WCML between Preston and Lancaster.

Mods please lock if not newsworth.
(Mods I was tempted to put this in speculation but -----)
